Guest guest
Hmmm~ A few things come to mind....1) you have lost body fat and gained muscle 2)what are you cooking your eggs in? Are you drinking skim milk? And are you eating fat free or low fat cottage cheese? 3) are you hitting your " 10's in your work out's each day? Hope that makes sense Tonja Changing lives One Family at a Time http://www.themomteam.com/cgi-bin/mom.cgi?id=to409571 & action=show BFL- WEEK 1 - MAJOR FREAK OUT I've gained like 5 lbs.. I'm assuming that this isn't normal. My measurements are still the same (I wasn't expecting them to be different), but I thought I'd at least lose 1 lb. (and no it's not " that time of the month " ). I'm confused. And then I read the egg protein thing... SO now I'm extremely confused as to what I've been doing wrong. I've said it once and I'll say it again: I am nutritionally retarded. I'll give you a sample of a " typical " day this week: Breakfast: scrambled eggs (usually 3/4 c. of egg beaters w. a tiny bit of milk) toast or strawberries Mid Morning: cottage cheese (about 1/2 c.) strawberries (a hand full) Lunch: can of tuna salad (Newman's Oil & Vinegar dressing) pear Mid afternoon: 1 boiled egg banana Supper: grilled chicken breast asparagus (because it's in season) potato (size of my fist) Evening: protein bar What am I doing wrong? I swear on my son's life that I have not cheated... Or am I freaking out prematurely? I know I'm not going to start losing dramatically -- but to gain? Guest guest
(first i should state that i'm a kinesiology student and we learned how to do body fat measurements using calipers and the anthropometric way) 1) it appears that i have gained fat. (doing my calculations... i made my husband the math wizard double check) 2) i'm using a non-stick pan, so when i cook my eggs, i'm not using anything but the pan. the milk is skim. and the cottage cheese is 1% mf. 3) yes, i'm hitting my 10s every day. especially in cardio... i just want this to work so badly. > Hmmm~ > > A few things come to mind....1) you have lost body fat and gained muscle > 2)what are you cooking your eggs in? Guest guest
Actually, gaining weight the first week is pretty normal. People come screaming through here in tears all the time and we have to tackle them and talk sense. :-) When did you weigh and measure yourself? What time of day? When in relation to your free day? If your measurements are still the same, you're not gaining fat. I'm sure you learned that caliper readings are only accurate +/- 3% even under the best of circumstances, and I'm here to tell you that you're INSANE if you take caliper readings more often than once a month. Every week isn't enough time to see a reliable change. You're going to drive yourself batty for no reason at all. Read this several times. If necessary, make a copy and tape it to your forehead. From Dr. Hussman: " Here is your job today: adhere to a winning pattern of action that you know will produce results if you follow it consistently. That's all. And if you do that today, congratulate yourself as a winner. If instead, you insist on measuring your success by whether or not the scale or caliper show progress today, you're creating a game you can lose. In Covey's words, you're putting yourself in the position of trying to manage consequences rather than actions. You'll never get a reliable sense of confidence that way. Look, you're following a program that works. Do troubleshoot. Do review your workouts, food choices, portion sizes, and meal plans. But make every day a game you can win. " BFL- WEEK 1 - MAJOR FREAK OUT I've gained like 5 lbs.. I'm assuming that this isn't normal.
