Pollan also wrote " The Botany of Desire " which is an *incredible* book about how four plants--the tulip, the apple, marijuana, and the potato--shaped human evolution by appealing to our desires for beauty, food, and escapism, thereby enticing us to grow and breed them for our purposes. Pollan raises the question: are people cultivating these plants, or is it the other way around?
