Dear group,

I was wondering if some of you could share your indications and

contraindications for the use of supersets in your training programs.

Thanks,

Two different exercises for the same muscle same day, especially supersets

make results less measurable and conclusive.

Many of the terms used in bodybuilding have been coined by Joe Weider and

several early bodybuilders. According to Weider terms, a superset consists of

two exercises performed back to back for opposing muscle groups (e.g.,

standing curls and pushdowns). When you perform two different exercises back

to back for the same muscle group (e.g., standing curls and concentration

curls), you're performing a compound set.

Joe, I'd call it training.:) If we're sticking to the Weider bodybuilding

terminology, there's no specific term for that combination but seems to fall

most closely in line with supersets.

What would you call two exercises on different body parts (curl and calf

raise) performed alternately?
