Forget the downfall and keep chugging along. Nothing you can do about it

Hey Lindsey -

When I look back at my food journal the first challenge I did last summer, I

cheated the first day, and just about every day actually. Not very many

days when I didn't have an unauthorized bite here or there. But for some

reason I had awesome results. I think it was because I didn't let the

little cheats hinder my entire day. I didn't let some chips and salsa or

two cookies stop me from continuing to change 75% of my eating habits at

that point.

Just don't quit - keep going - it's progress, not perfection, as it has

been said many times here.

Lindsey,

First of all, you have to remember that you are only on day two, and

that means that you haven't yet stablized your blood sugar. It makes

sense that you are still craving those foods that will give you that

boost that sugar does. If you can follow the plan for a few days (a

week even), then you will notice a dramatic drop in those cravings.

This coming from a major sugar/carb junkie. There is light at the end

of the tunnel!

So take a deep breath. Go clean out your cupboards and get rid of

those chips. Throw out the ice cream. Ok, I hear some of you

saying " But they're for the kids (my husband)! " , but you know what?

They don't need the junk either. At least until you know you can

control reaching into the cupboard and grabbing something that isn't

on the plan. There are plenty of treats out there that we can have

that meet BFL criteria - have you tried the EFL cheesecake? It's to

die for, and it's low cal, low fat and fits the carb/protein ratio.

Now look towards the rest of the week with the mind that *you can do

this*! Don't deprive yourself of that free day this weekend, you may

need it to get you through the rough spots. You'll rely on it less

and less, but at first it's good to have a day to look forward where

you can eat what you want. So you ate off plan today. It's ok! We all

do it from time to time. Just keep moving forward and don't look back.

And as far as your friend goes, I think it's excellent that you have

someone to be accountable to. I have a good friend that is my BFL

buddy, and more than once I've put that chip back because I couldn't

bear the thought of having to tell her I cheated, and I've pushed

extra hard on a workout because I knew she would be proud. I think

it's excellent that your friend was disappointed, because now maybe

you'll try extra hard not to disappoint her again. And man will she

be proud of you for finishing the rest of the week with a clean bill!
