Hi, , I'm new too and also really worried about the free day

(which is tomorrow). Some friends on a low carb board I belong to

who do BFL suggested that instead of a free DAY, we do a free MEAL

and then get right back on track. That seems like good advice to

me. :)

Don't be afraid of free days, free days are your friend! I too was

afraid of them to start with, but after completing my challenge with

a total loss of 7% body fat I'm here to tell you that if you're

doing it right during the week, throw out those guilty feelings on

free day. I really went nuts on my free days, felt horrible at the

end of them, and every time thought I'd learnt my lesson. But alas,

I still haven't, and my next challenge I'm sure I'll still pig out

on free days. As well as telling your body it isn't starving (which

you already know), it also fills up your muscles with glocogen,

which will make you nice and strong for Mondays workout. Please

please PLEASE don't weigh yourself on a Monday morning though, if

you want to weigh, do it on your free day, before you start. All

that glocogen is going to be packaged in water, so you might find

you put on a couple of pounds during free day. But believe me when

I tell you that it's JUST water, it WILL go away during the week as

you workout. Also it's a good mental break for you.

In regards to the free meal, yes a lot of people choose that path.

And it's fine to do it, but just be aware that if you want to have a

free day, there's no guilt in it. You'll still get great results,

becuase hey - your body can only store so much fat in one day.

I can't stress strongly enough what said about DO NOT WEIGH

YOURSELF THE MORNING AFTER A FREE DAY/MEAL -- unless you truly

intellectually understand what's going on with your body and you can

deal with it emotionally.

Typically, free eating is high in carbs. Carbs bring little

suitcases full of water with them and they use your body as a hotel

room. It is EASY, EASY, EASY to put on five pounds just in water

weight after one free day.

It is darn near impossible to put on that much fat (you'd have to

consume 17,500 calories IN EXCESS of what your body uses in a day to

put on 5 lbs. of fat). So, unless you're totally prepared to see the

scale shoot up, just save yourself the trouble and don't get on the

darn thing.

If you're feeling bloated, do drink lots of water for 2-3 days (min.

1 gallon/day). That'll knock the bloat right outta there.
