I would contend that the public does not follow all advice. Unfortunately, our society is hooked on instant gratification. They want an easy way to lose weight. They want to take some sort of pill that will do it for them, or some sort of miracle diet. I am a member of whquestion.com and I get forwarded questions how to lose weight or " tone up " all of the time. And many of the questions are in the realm of, " What's a fast and easy way to lose weight? " Just today I got a question, " What's a fast and easy way to lose weight? Without diet and exercise? " This type of attitude is part of our society's problem. There is no fast and easy way. If you tell people that, they don't want to hear it and they go right on looking for another miracle pill or method. The obesity problem in this country is a multifactorial problem. And one of the factors behind this problem is definitely the fault of the public. Guest guest
Part of the fault happens in the education system too! Ineffective P.E. and nutrition (or health ed.) curriculum never gives students enough and good concepts and skills to manage their weights. Please don't forget today's adult public are yesterday's students. Example is that for so many years during the school days students have not learned a bit of the very basic concept that weight management is LIFELONG COMMITMENT, no wonder almost all of them expect to find fastest and easiest way to loose weight.
