Guest guest
1) Mc's arches are more widely recognized around the world than the Christian cross. Mc is the 2nd most recognizable fictional character (just behind Santa Claus). The original (Willard ) was fired because he was too heavy. is always THIN, is never shown eating the product and is ALWAYS HAPPY. All the people in Mc's ads are thin, they are most often not eating, but they are always happy and having fun. Therefore, fast food makes you thin and happy. Ray Kroc and Walt Disney were friends. Now you can buy a (Mcs) " Happy Meal " at (Disneyland) " The Happiest Place in the World " ! 2) One out of every 5 public schools in the US has a brand name fast food restaurant inside. Same with hospitals including children's hospitals. 3) Mcs gives away over 1.5 billion toys a year, they are the number one purveyer of toys in the US, such that 1 out of every 3 toys comes from them. They have over 8000 playgrounds at their restaurants (Burger King has 2000) WHY? 4) The current generation of American children are the FATTEST and MOST OUT OF CONDITION group of people every created on earth. Diabetes soon to reach 50%, Asthma over 10%, and cardiovascular disease now being found in 10 year olds (some of whom have the vessels of a 45 year old man who has smoked for 10 years). Pre-teens are now having heart attacks! Since 1970 obesity has DOUBLED in young school children and TRIPLED in older school children. There is a 90% likelihood that an obese child will become an obese adult (many have 8 times as many fat cells). 5) CDC: If the trend continues soon there will be more deaths from bad food than from cigarettes or alcohol. 6) Marketing campaigns for soda are aimed at 8 year olds (the idea age to capture a group of lifetime users). In the '50's the average size of a coke was 8 oz. Now a " child " size is 12 oz (that's 8-10 tsp of sugar) and the average is 32 oz with free refills common. That would be 40-50 tsps of sugar (actually high fructose corn syrup which is worse!) 7) There is a new revolution in attitudes and thinking of the middle classes and the upper classes making OBESITY more and more a problem of poor children. Poor people watch more TV, have less time to cook, less time to shop, less information about food, and fewer options so now the startlingly ironic reality is that the poor are now the obese class. As with LIQUOR and TOBACCO, the marketing and shopping outlets are moving in to poor neighborhoods in the inner city so as to target the poor. The majority of Mcs profit comes from the Dollar Meals, directly marketed to the poor (no salads or fruit, just burgers, fries and soda). 8) Bariatric surgeons have now deemed it is no longer off-limits to perform gastric bypass surgery on TEENAGERS! The once rare, super-expensive, and super-dangerous surgery has skyrocketed in incidence to almost 200,000 a year, many of these young people. 9) The typical American child watches 40,000 TV commercials a year, 20,000 for fast food, junk food, soda, breakfast cereal, that's 5 minutes per hour of watching or over 3 solid hours a week. Mc's spends over $3billion/yr on TV ads. Children don't learn about food in school, they are taught what to eat by commercials. Children have no ability to tell the difference between advertising and entertainment. Other than school and sleep, children in the US spend more time watching TV than anything else (25+ hrs per week or 1.5 months non-stop each year). (Dr Mercola says that studies show the more TV you watch they fatter you become) 10) Fast food companies put children in MRI machines to measure the brain waves to determine what stimulates brand loyalty, they create toddler and school child focus groups to pry into the mild of children to find what motivates their desires, they hire child psychologists to create the most seductive advertising to lure in children. Brand loyalty begins before 2 years of age, children can recognize logos like the Golden Arches before they even know their own name. These SAD FACTS come from the new book CHEW ON THIS by ERIC SCHLOSSER this pertaining to the MARKETING OF JUNK FOOD TO CHILDREN. Read more in this amazing book.... Guest guest
on another werid mc donalds ad that is all around .. a thin lady in a workout suit holding two mcdonalds bags and it says " my kind of shopping spree " now come on. How twisted is that? Not only eatting mcdonalds but when you think shopping spree you think " mass consumption , mass spending " so is this billboard telling you to over eat at mcdonalds? andrea --- Will Winter <holistic@...> wrote: > 1) Mc's arches are more widely recognized > around the world than the Christian > cross.
