The hitlist is great - many thanks - I don't suppose you have an example

letter up your sleeve - when time is precious, people interested in joining

the campaign might find it easier to use the words of those who have

already formulated their cogent arguments.......look forward to hearing

from you

Sorry I just realised that I haven't updated this list since the election so

you will have to either phone the cabinet office or use it advisedly

remembering that some people have changed houses and addresses since the

election!!! I think Jack Straw is now too busy with the war to bother about

health visiting, however he was once a great supporter! Anyway! there you

go!

I think the minister with responsibility for nursing (and presumably

HV!) is now Hutton.

Thanks for continued support , and to for responding quicker

than me with a template letter. The 'deadline' is really unknown at this

time; at any time the Minister might decide to lay the draft Nursing and

Midwifery Order before the House. once that happens, realsitically, it will

be too late tp change the title or text in any way. Until then, (as per

Moira's hard work getting letters + briefing to all MPs) we keep lobbying.

Margaret was reminding us all the other day, taht in 1979, the Act had to be

delayed because of last-minute lobbying by health visitors. We do not really

want to delay the Order: but we do want it right!

Those who have already written to their MPs might like to write again, saying

HVs are still not reassured and citing teh telephone poll that was carried out

by the 'grass roots network':

94% of health visitors want health visiting in the name of the new law

81% of Health Visitors want Health Visiting in the title of the new Nursing

and Midwifery Council. 88% of Health Visitors expressed concern about the

inadequate regulatory safeguards in the new legislation which will impact on

Health Visitor training and education.

This last one is especially important, because MPs have been told by the

Minister that health visitors just need reassuring, because these safeguards

will make it all alright.

best wishes

Thanks for that , I cut and pasted the statistics into another MP

letter - www.faxyourmp.com and added a little mini explanation about the

survey. Well it must be at least two days since he last heard from me on

this issue, so I thought I would pitch in again!!!
