Guest guest
Last Tuesday (30 Sept) had my first ever session with an Endocrinologist at the local Airedale Hospital (in NW England, UK. Initially, as a new patient, I hoped to see the top person only to find out that the Registrar had been given the case! Having filled him in with my detailed case from student days way back in 1976 (Sub-total adrenalectomy: already posted this background on this forum), it was decided that I should be called in for a day to have the adrenal situation checked out. If I understood him correctly, they intend to use ACTH to 'stress' the remnant adrenal gland to check the 'adrenal reserve'. This test can only be performed by stopping the 50mg of spironalactone for about two weeks. Never been without it since 1977 . . . . Has anyone else been through this kind of procedure and how did you manage when the spiro was withdrawn?
