Guest guest
Dr. did not say what is causing the low K in blood. He mentioned the aldo was high and that he was treating me for the problem with potassium tablets. The Aldo is 17.8H, and renin level was fine, that is what he informed me. Can you please inform me as to what I need to inform my Dr. to do next? What additional test he such have done? thank you. > > > Hi Doctor Grim, I saw my endo doctor today Tuesday February 10. and > > received the results for my blood work and 24 hour urine specimens. > > My doctor diagnosed mewith hypokalemia. Guest guest
We need the actual numbers and the normals for that lab to help him interpret your results. " fine " does not count here. Unless he has been doing this for years. We are here to help with this. I would recommend taking him my article on the evolution of PA after you have read it as well. Guest guest
They best way to treat low K (and most other diseases) is to figure out what is causing it and correct that specific problem. Just giving K is just a finger in the dike approach. You want to find and treat the specific causes. There are hundreds I would guess. But boil down to not eating enough, peeing out too much due to high aldo and high salt diet, vomiting, sweating, diarrhea or loss in stools. Tell him how much K you are getting with the DASH diet (lo sodium version).
