I am trying to see the bright side of > things.... > : You might have already seen in my earlier reply, but we had an average of a 4 hr one way drive to our nearest CT in Chicago. We had to go just bi-weekly as Abby was 11.5 mos old when we began. The results were worth the long drive though! A lot of members have long drives, I think there's a question about that in our polls section, let me look! Guest guest
We drove to CT in NJ from our home in polis, MD, from the end of September of last year to mid-January of this year. It was 8 hours roundtrip and sometimes we got stuck in traffic on Fridays coming back. We smartened up and switched to Mondays where the traffic was better coming back. We switched his treatment to the satellite office in ndale, VA, in mid-January when it opened (Yippee!) and made the biweekly trips there until the beginning of June, which was only 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours total roundtrip. I really feel for those people that have to make a long trip weekly. I was lucky enough that my husband was able to take off work to make the biweekly trips to Paramus. It actually gave us time to chat which I enjoyed since my husband usually works long hours. Candy, mom to (DOCband grad 6/3/02) land > How far does everyone drive to their appts? Guest guest
We drive 3 hours each way from Parkton NC to Charlotte NC. Each time I go I take all 3 of my kids and by the time I am home I am completely wiped out. I know some people do have to drive farther then I do and I cant even imagine that. When I get all tired and annoyed with the drive I just try to remember to be thankful that our drive is only 3 hours instead of like 6 or something. Ive been making the drive now for 4 months and I am hoping MYa wont need a 2nd band. But...... Its not my decision so well just have to wait and see what the doctor says/ Christi mom to MYA (DOC band 3/6/02) > How far does everyone drive to their appts? Is there any municipal / county airports close to you? Perhaps a flight school? If there are you may find you can rent a plane with a pilot for about $75 an hour. Better yet, if you can talk with the scheduler and explain your situation you may be surprised at how many people will want to help. Many local airports sponsor " angel flights " and have pilots who are eager to participate. I fly from Sacramento to Palo Alto and it takes me 40 minutes each way. s Dad,
Guest guest
H : I am , mom to Rhiannon - my beautiful 6 month old daughter. She was diagnosed with severe plagio, and we drive 5 hours one way to CT in Madison, WI (we are in St. , MN). We go the day before her appt. and return the day of, so our trips always include a hotel stay too. (Priceline.com, thank you for the cheap rates). Rhiannon has gotten used to the drive, although I haven't. It is grueling, but it is worth it! Just remember that one day, you will be done with the therapies and helmet, and your baby will be perfect! Many, many parents do not have that kind of future for their babies. We are lucky. It is hard, but we are lucky. Does your CT clinic provide therapy as well? We get therapy at the CT clinic on the same day we are there for the helmet. I also bring Rhia to other therapies at home - cranial-sacral, cranial osteopath, chiro, etc. as her plagio is due to tort (which was VERY severe, and is now resolving very nicely). Good luck to you, and just keep your focus on the outcome. Kind regards, > How far does everyone drive to their appts? I know some of you drive > longer than two hours.
