Guest guest
Actually 2 lbs per week is very reasonable and healthy. Don't forget to do the 20 minute HIIT as described in the book 3x per week, and you can do extra moderate cardio if you want. The 20 minute HIIT is the best way to rev up your metabolism. in WI How much should I expect to lose per week? > I have been BFLing for 1 week. > I lost 2 pounds the first week > which I thought was low for someone my > size. Guest guest
I find that I do better by counting calories (or you can count points). I like to know exactly how much I'm eating. But I don't mind measuring and tracking. But others will disagree and say they like the palm/fist method because it's simple. The EAS bodyforlife website now has a calculator that will estimate your daily calorie intake and then break it down in calories for portein, carbs, and fat. I would suggest that you follow this guideline: http://www.bodyforlife.com/calcalc.shtml At your weight you should consume around 2000 to lose fat. And don't forget to recalculate when you start losing weight. As you shrink, so should your calorie intake. Many people start off BFL eating more than they realize. > I have been BFLing for 1 week. > I lost 2 pounds the first week > which I thought was low for someone my > size. Guest guest
Stacie, thank YOU so much! I guess that I will probably only lose 2-3 pounds a week doing this program. Which is great but I just expected more! When I did low carb programs I lost a lot more per week. The calorie calculator really is helpful. Thanks again, yvonne > > I have been BFLing for 1 week. > > I lost 2 pounds the first week > > which I thought was low for someone my > > size. Guest guest
Hi , I agree with Stacie, I do better counting cals too. Also 1-2lbs is a reasonable weight loss per week anything higher then 2lbs per week signifies a lean mass loss which is what you are working against. You want to preserve your lean mass while loosing fat as your lean mass (muscle mass)determines your meatabolic rate, more muscle=faster metabolism. Now as for calories per day. I am afraid 2000 cals is on the high side. I calculated your basal meatbolic rate with some theoretical numbers and got 1150-1550 per day. Go to Hussman's and read everything there, it explains what is happening to your body while you are on BFL. Then use the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)calculator to find out what your caloric intake should be. Here is the link http://www.hussman.org/fitness/bmrcalc.htm If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Guest guest
- don't fret about what the scale says. It's likely that the reason you lost so much scale weight is because you were dropping muscle. Although you'll lose a little less weight, you will see better changes in things like measurements. in NZ C1W12D4 > > > I have been BFLing for 1 week. > > > I lost 2 pounds the first week > > > which I thought was low for someone my > > > size. Guest guest
I've done low carb programs as well and lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. But the one thing I noticed is that my bodyfat went UP. That prompted me to quit those type of programs. I would rather lose 1-2lbs a week of fat then to lose more weight because I'm losing muscle. Remember, typically the slower you lose the weight, the slower it is to come back on. It didn't show up overnight and it's not going to go away overnight. If you keep your weight loss slow and steady, you will win the race (paying homage to the Tortoise and the Hare for anyone who remembers Aesop's Fables). Scale weight isn't everything and you will find having a stronger, sexier body is much more gratifying than being a " skinny fat " person. My entire family has done and is doing Atkins type programs and sure, they've all lost 40, 50, 60lbs. My mother went from a size 14 to a size 4 in 4 months! But you know something? She's flabby. She's small, but soft. My sister is the same way. Skinny but flabby. I'm quite a bit heavier than most of my family, but underneath the fat I need to lose, there is quite a bit of muscle left from when I did BFL before. Keep hanging in there and remember, slow is better in this case. Rest assured, you are making plenty of changes on the inside even if you can't see them. And in time, those changes will make a HUGE difference on your outside appearance. C. uniquelymadetoo <Rice@...> wrote: Stacie, thank YOU so much! Guest guest
You are welcome , Hussman's should be a mandatory read for newbies, it explains so much and helps folks understand the what's, why's and how's of BFL. Next time someone asks a question similar to yours, pass it on.
