Guest guest
I had a really bad anxiety episode today. I let myself get too hungry, felt very low blood sugar, and then ate about 300 mg Na in the form of meat balls and some mashed potatoes My husband checked my heart rate after I'd taken two 1/2 mg Ativan but they hadn't fully kicked in. Mind you, neither of us knows what we're doing although he's good at checking BP with a listening device.. 1st time checked (about 5:30 p.m. - not timed): 62 beats, skip, 3 beats, skip, 8 beats, skip, 20 beats, skip, 8 beats, skip. BP = 141/98 and there was no heart pain. I knew when I had the anxiety events, my heart was doing something weird. Perhaps I have the anxiety attacks because of the heart irregularity? Does the heart get irregular in response to Na or hypoglycemia? 2nd time checked (8:30 p.m. for 2 minutes): 163 beats with no misses. By that time, the Ativan had fully kicked in. BP = 127/89 I'm on my 4th day of 100 mg spiro; 24th day since starting at 50 mg. Ave BP has gone from 162/96 to 137/86 (average over 24 days). Average K = 3454, average Na = 728, average calories = 1302 At two weeks on spiro, K was up to 4.8 from 3.7. Tonight I ate lettuce, tomatoes and a square of (unsalted) chocolate. Generally, I feel pretty well and the anxiety hits are not like they were before spiro. For several months, I had this anxiety almost constantly and often wondered how my heart was going to bear up. I'd appreciate any comments. Val
