PCOS is not PA. I use up to 400 mg for PA.

I recommend you ask her to read about the treatment of PA with spiro

and Inspra.

Dr. Young at the Mayo clinic has written the most recently about this.

I guess I will call her to double it if I'm not seeing any change. Chances

are, I won't get a call back until next Thursday anyway. She's only in my

office on Thursday and Friday. I'm getting a little resentful. It

shouldn't have taken seven days to even get started on Inspra and then

another week to get a change off of it. Every day this goes on is a day out

of my life. Gives me the weepies, sometimes.

Should spiro be taken 2x/day or is once enough?

I ordered 300 - 25 mg spiro for myself so I can titrate. I'm good enough,

I'm smart enough, and damn, I could get myself well faster! I check BP

twice a day. Problem is, it won't be here for two weeks.

I have a double whammy with the swelling. Non-pitting edema is common in

low thyroid. The only time it totally leaves me is when I take some T3 but

that, of course, sets off an episode. Anyway, I dropped my T4 dose for a

few days to see if that helped the racing/anxiety. No change (except cold

feet) so I bumped it back up today.

I've been reading old posts from the archives. I am seeing sweating and

racing/anxiety. It help me to see I'm not alone with these crazy symptoms.

I'll go see if I can find Dr. Young's writing on the drugs for treating.

BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL 24 JUNE 1972

All 67 patients received oral spironolactone in a dose of 50-400

mg daily (mean 254 mg daily) for a minimum period of four weeks

As shown in the Table, spironolactone treatment was accompanied

by significant reductions in body weight, total body

water, extracellular fluid volume, and plasma volume.

My copy of Guyton and Hall's book came today. I will be busy learning

everything I couldn't comprehend in college.

Spiron can be taken once a day but with your GI upsets with Inspra I

would do bid till you are stable.

You can increase dose every 4-5 days by 25 mg.

I have a new computer and when I click on a *.pdf, it opens but the URL is

not displayed. I've uploaded this particular article in case you're

interested. I found it fascinating in that it's a 35-year-old report.

I apologize if it is in the wrong folder. Couldn't quite determine where to

put it.
