Guest guest
Just how many calories are we supposed to be eating? I put in a typical day, with my palm sized portions and fist sized veggie etc. portions and it only came out to about 1200 calories. It doesn't seem like enough. I weigh currently, 216 lbs. and have the metabolism of a slug...(hypothyroid) I obviously have a lot of fat to lose! Any suggestions? Should I be eating more than that? What do you'uns think? Thanks Stevie Here is a sample menu: M1: protein shake w/2 T ground flax seeds, 1/2 c. strawberries M2: 1 can tuna, 1 wasa rye bread, 3/4 c. steamed cabbage M3: 1 slice whole grain (multi-grain) bread (fat-free butter spray), 1/2 c. low-fat cottage cheese M4: 1 herbed chicken breast, 3/4 c. steamed broccoli, 1/2 c. fresh tomato M5: 3 eggwhite/2 whole egg scramble, 3/4 c. cantaloupe M6: 1/2 c. low-fat cottage cheese
Guest guest
Got to Hussmans website and read 'How Calories Work' and in that section he has a little popup calculator that will help you determine what range you should be/could be eating in. http://www.hussman.org/fitness/ Personally I think 1200 calories for you is too little - think more in the range of 1500 to 1800 calories. Easy to do by adding in more veggies and complex carbs. <<joni>> *eat like a horse but look like a thoroughbred* ;-)
Guest guest
Meal 4 & Meal 6 listed below are missing a carb - that could account for missing calories in this menu. Other than that I second Joni's response about looking at Hussman's site to figure out what your calorie intake should be to lose weight. in WI Help with calories and menu... > Just how many calories are we supposed to be eating? Guest guest
Hi Stevie, Go to this link and click on basal matabolic rate http://www.hussman.org/fitness/bmrcalc.htm It will tell you how many cals you should have in a day. I used rough numbers for you guessing weight age and BF. It gave me a calculation of 1200-1650 cals a day for weight loss. So no you aren't too low. And yes you need to add a carb to your meal 4 and 6. Try out the Hussman's site, it's a great tool.
Guest guest
Thanky ladies, for your help!!! I went to the site and it said between 1250 & 1640 cals per day. I will add those missing carbs too and see if that helps. Stevie :}
