Hi guys, here*s a link that might change your mind about civette and

want to adopt one and milk it occasionally of its civet.

For more practical advice on housing, feeding and breeding civette,

click this link:

Civet is still very widely used in perfumery where roughly and legally

(in agreement with the Convention of Washington and the exporting

African country, according to the importer in France) about 1000kg of

the raw stuff leaves Africa every year, 85% of it goes to France where

it is made into an absolute by diluting it in alcohol at 10%

concentration (they should call it a tincture)and sold by at least

three major companies. The part that goes to the US is mostly used by

trappers as bait. This tincture at 10% concentration is sold in the US

for about $84/lb, but you would have to buy the whole drum of 5 lbs =

$420, they won*t even take a chance opening up a drum. I think Vigon

in PA will ship you a sample. Based on earlier reading (Piesse) you

need to use between 20 and 40ml of this tincture for every one gallon

of perfume. The same goes for ambergris (helpful?) and musk. In one

book it was suggested that a tincture should rest for one month and a

blend should rest and marry for one year.

Have your pet and make money out of it!

The woman holding the Civet, instead of looking pleased about her work

saving them, looks like she got got a huge whiff of the exudate up her

nose! LOL. Mercy, she looks miserable.
