Guest guest
this morning i did 'your personal best' with karen voight and elle macpherson. this is an older workout, but it is fairly timeless. beautiful hawaiian scenery and good music (recognizable pop tunes, with vocals). karen instructs and cues very well, as usual, while elle throws some comments in here and there. a few of elle's comments are silly -- for ex. while doing a particular exercise for the butt, she says that she really needs to do those, although she certainly doesnt look like she needs them... LOL. but overall, she is not annoying at all -- she does not hog the camera, interrupt karen or try to talk over her, nor try to instruct the workout herself. elle and karen seemed to get along together very well and looked like friends working out together. this is a cardio/strength circuit workout that lasts for around 55 mins... there are 6 circuits... 3 cardio segments and 3 strength segments, plus a stretch at the end. the cardio is quite varied, ranging from low impact aerobic moves, boxing and sports (so these circuits are athletic, not dancey). the lower body strength segments are done unweighted (which is right up my alley at the moment due to back injury) but you could add dumbells and/or ankle weights if you wanted to. dumbells are used for the upper body. elle uses 3 pounders but i used 5's. there are quite a few reps in the upper body segment. the last strength circuit is abs/back. i thought that this was a really fun workout... PERFECT for me today and i feel great! i LOL'd because karen and elle change their workout outfits for every circuit, so i was always interested to see what they would be wearing next. and the scenery would change as well, from one beautiful spot to another. also karen looks fabulous in this one... she always has a great physique... and elle looks good too, but boy she sure does have long legs and arms, which seemed to make the exercises more challenging for her. i did the higher impact sports cardio on my rebounder which was fabulous... the rebounder has opened up alot of doors for me in regards to high impact cardio, which i could never do before. also i used my stability ball to lay over while doing leg curls and also put my feet up on it during the abs section. anyway, this is a good video which i should have got a long time ago! it is an intermediate workout with lots of variety... not too easy for me today, yet not too hard, either. pleasant with no dread factor. :*carolyn. Guest guest
Great workouts, Carolyn! I should pull out that /Elle workout sometime, too!Donna From: Festival City Concrete Ltd / & Carolyn Visser <cvisser@...>Subject: your personal best"Exercisevideosgroups (DOT) Com" < >Date: Sunday, June 14, 2009, 8:42 PM hi everyone!just checking in for the last week...did lots of walking and bike riding.chinook really seems to like all of the running while i bike :)did a few more TJ workouts... gee that 'fat blaster' is a crazy one... i dont have a clue what chalene is doing during the really fast parts (even though i think it might be a repeat of what she just taught at a slower pace...LOL) so i just do my own stuff... great rebounder workout. the cardio parties are too similar to really discuss, but that is fine... they are good, fun workouts just as they are. ive never gotten into the sculpting workouts in this set (besides 'ab jam') but i would like to do them some time soon (booty sculpt, turbo sculpt, kickin core, lower body jam, total body ball - hey there is a whole theme week plan right there!).this week im going to do some easy cardio+sculpt workouts, along with walking and biking with chinook. have a few bonus workouts scheduled on a couple of evenings, if i have time.today i biked/walked (mostly biked) with chinook for 53 mins=278 cals. i also did 'your personal best' with karen voight and model elle macpherson for 60 mins=279 cals. this is an easy workout that consists of athletic floor cardio and strength training circuits, and it is remarkably beautiful. karen and elle workout in various lovely outdoor scenes. and they wear great-looking workout clothes. on the down side, elle is kind of dorky, karen doesnt always cue, and they use 3 lb weights for everything. but all is forgiven in this VHS video that has become a fitness classic.:*carolyn.
