Guest guest
Hi Carolyn!! Sorry to hear about the cold. YOu are right that it is the eating that sabotages our success. I would workout several times a day if I had the time! I agree that " treat " day should be once a week and should only be one thing. I tend to get into the overboard mode when I have treats. And, can you believe this - I went to the grocery today and bought ice cream - they were BOGO so I now have two cartons. Ice cream is a huge weakness for me. I put it in our freezer downstairs in the hopes that that will help me to moderate it. I think I'm self-destructive!! Andy, you are right, shorts, bathing suit, etc. season is right around the corner. I think a cash bet or a video/DVD would be in order! It might motivate us.... :> Donna --- Carolyn or Visser <pvisser@...> wrote: > > i havent done well at all on the workout challenge > this month due to > being injured (and now i have yet another stupid > cold but a > food challenge is what i really need especially if i > cant workout. > certainly a dessert with a special meal would be > fine (say, one of > those in the month?) and we could also have one day > a week that is > 'treat day' where we can have ONE thing. > > > What disgruntles me is my clothes are slowly > getting > > tighter and I really want that to stop! > > and we really dont have that much time before may is > here (that is > the start of bikini season for me). right now > there is no way that > i could wear a bikini, i really need to get rid of > some flab.... im > facing wearing a one-piece swimsuit this summer and > im disappointed :/ > > honestly, we dont really have much of a problem > working out... we > know that it is the food intake that is sabatoging > us. > so lets do it! also, i think we should sweeten the > pot for some > extra motivation. hmmmm, how about a cash bet or > the loser sends > the winner a gift or a dvd or video? > > :*carolyn. > __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Congrats on working out for 16 days in a row. That's awesome!!!! It takes a lot of commitment. Water? I hated water, but a few years ago I just started bringing a large bottle to work with me and that's all I drink during the day, except for my morning coffee & a cup of tea. No soda, juice, etc. Just water. I find that if I don't have my bottle (yeah, I sound like I have a problem <g>) I'm at a loss to what to do. Really. The weekends I have problems drinking my water, I drink too much coffee & soda & tea. Not enough water and you know by the end of Sunday I'm more bloated than during the week. Hmm. All I can suggest is to take your water with you and start building that habit like you did with exercise. Guest guest
Thank you Debra I'm an all or nothing kind of girl. I tend to skip " a couple " days if I take a rest day, so I'm much better off just going and going and going...LOL... I would like to get back to one day off a week in March, but if I can't handle it and I start taking a couple few days off then I'm getting right back on and hitting it hard every day I don't know why it is so hard to commit myself to the water. I drink on average two cans of pop a day. If I'd get rid of those, I know it would help greatly, but I enjoy them so it's hard to do. When I began my " fitness journey " five years ago, I used to drink water like there was no tomorrow. It didn't take me long at all and I enjoyed it. SO, I do know it's possible, I just have to buckle down AND DO IT! Darcy On 2/24/06, debra082002 <debra082002@...> wrote: Congrats on working out for 16 days in a row. I usually never drink pop, but I'd say the past month I've been drinking a bottle of diet A & W everyday after supper, it is sooooo good. lol I started getting it for my daughter when she came out and I drank a little one day and couldn't believe that it was diet because it was so good. Guest guest
Hi Carolyn I was thinking a point/tally system getting a point everytime you cheat, at the end of the month whoever has the most points looses. Being the one who looses to a group of people is some times motivational in itself, you know what I mean. Or the one with the most points has to pay the one with the least points. Just an idea. Thanks BeckyCarolyn or Visser <pvisser@...> wrote: Donna M-P wrote:> I> agree that "treat" day should be once a week and> should only be one thing. ok, so that will be our rule for this challenge then. no 'treats' or 'junk food' (you make your own defn of what is a treat and what is junk) unless it is the special designated day during the week (designate your own day), during which we can have ONE treat.do you have a special occasion coming up in march? someone birthday or an anniversary or something? if so, then sure, you would be allowed to have ONE dessert on that occasion. i dont foresee any special occasions for me in march, but if you are going to have a dessert at one then i might be allowed to have a dessert that day too :)this morning i went through our kitchen cupboards, looking for junk food. i put all of the kids crap into one cupboard (cookies and chips) and all of my food into a separate one. so when i want something to munch on, i go to my cupboard only. the freezer does have ice cream in it, but i have not had an urge to eat it lately, so im considering it to be safely tucked away. the only food that is in my cupboard that is questionable is some saltine crackers...lol. the rest looks acceptable, as long as i stick to the standard serving size (!!)>And, can you> believe this - I went to the grocery today and bought> ice cream - they were BOGO so I now have two cartons. oh oh, you will have to pawn it all off on DH! or take a carton over to a friends house when you go to visit...lol. how about just having a teaspoon full of ice cream (one bite!) when needed as we wean off of the junk before the challenge starts? and of course you can tell yourself that you can have a bowl of ice cream as your weekly treat during the challenge if you like. ONE bowl! > I think a cash bet or a video/DVD would be in order!> It might motivate us.... :>that is what i need.... some sort of pressure to keep me accountable and constantly motivated. perhaps a cash bet would be the best thing... say $10? it would be nice to get a video or dvd as a prize if someone messes up the challange, but i cant really figure out how we could go about choosing what we want from the other person. of course if both of us stay on track and there is no 'winner' or 'loser' then noone has to pay and we would both be winners for eating alot less junk food for the month.if someone else would like to join us in the challenge (how about it darcy?) then anyone who messes up their challenge would owe each of the other $10 at the end of the month. the more people, the more money involved, it could get pretty crazy... so we might have to put a limit on the number of challengers. the money could be sent concealed in a card or we could just do a paypal transfer.also this challenge would require a daily check-in.what do you think? any better ideas on how to handle the penalty for messing up?:*carolyn. Guest guest
Hi Carolyn and other fellow challengers - My dinner-dessert treats will likely be on the 18th and 11th of March - so I guess the rest of the group will get an extra treat then as well. What did we decide on the penalty/motivation factor? I kind of like the idea that is sort of like 's push-up challenge. How about we make a list of the exercises we dread the most and we have to do so many reps or something. Anyway, let me know what you all decide! Take care, Donna --- Carolyn or Visser <pvisser@...> wrote: > > birthdays and dinner with friends are to be > celebrated and enjoyed! > so have a piece of cake (or whatever) and enjoy > your bonus treat > but remember that your committment to the > challenge holds you to > only one serving > if you let us know the dates when they arrive, > everyone else in the > challenge can have a bonus treat on those days as > well. > > :*carolyn. > __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Those are good ones, I personally hate lunges and walking lunges!!! Also, if any of us have access to long flights of stairs we can make walking up so many flights a penalty....
