thanks michelle!! i am so proud of myself! that was the first time

that i had done that workout. i was thinking it was going to be

super tough and i wouldnt be able to do it, but I DID IT! well, i

did most of it, anyway ;) like i said, i did have to modify a bit

here and there. i especially liked all of the punching/kicking

combos that she did.

:*carolyn.

PS: a great big thankyou, again, to donna for taping this workout

(and others) and for trading the tape to me! you rock donna!

thanks darcy! yes, there are commercials during the workouts on

fit-tv. it is kind of a welcome break during cathe workouts

though...LOL! i dont walk it out during the whole commercial break

though, just for a bit of it if required, then i fast forward until

the workout comes on again. during the commercials in gilad's

workouts, i will usually fast forward, but often i will just continue

on with the exercise that he was doing before the break while the

commercials play.

Hi Carolyn,

I'm so glad you liked this one!! Did I get you cardio

kicks, too? I think Cardio Kicks is my favorite Cathe

kickboxing style workout followed by KP & C. The more I

think about it I really don't like Kick Max all that

much b/c the intensity really just comes from really

high impact aerobics rather than kickboxing.

Take care!

HI Carolyn!

CK is more like kickboxing-inspired aerobics, but what

I really love is the drills at the end of the workout.

Very high energy and really motivating!

Sometimes I just add this on to another kickboxing

workout for something extra.

Cathe's K,P & C is one of my favorite workouts. I just did some this

morning, in fact. The one thing that irritates me about it is that

she doesn't always do the kicking techniques with technical accuracy.

I suspect that Cathe doesn't really have a martial arts background

and maybe she just had someone coach her for this video.

It's still a great workout, but don't try to learn martial arts from

it. :-)

,

As a certified kickboxing instrctor, I will tell you to never think of a kickboxing workout as martial arts. Like all other certifications, we go to a weekend course and take a test. No martial arts background required. Which sucks for a new instructor who gets someone like you in class, because we really feel our inabilities! LOL Thats the reason I started taking Kempo. I wanted to make sure that I was doing it right, not just throwing kicks because that is what was in the certification workshop.

Hopefully, you will be able to look past an instructors lack of martial arts training, and use the proper form and still get a good workout in.

Kickboxing, Tae Bo, etc. isn't martial arts. They're all inspired/based on martial arts however. While if you knew how to excute the moves properly yes you could use them against an attacker, but they're not there to " teach " that. The moves are modified a bit for safety and speed. But yes someone who does have a martial arts background would have better form than someone who doesn't. I remember a lady getting mad at her DH for saying that Tae Bo was modified TKD. But I had to tell her he was was correct.

You're right, Tae Bo and other such cardio isn't true martial arts.

The problem I have with Cathe, though, is that she uses martial arts

terms like " side kick " and " roundhouse kick " and does those techniques

with a form that looks more sloppy than modified. (I see the same

mistakes in the beginning students I teach.) So when I do " Kick,Punch

& Crunch " I just make sure to do what she SAYS, not what she DOES.
