Guest guest
With lawyers and government services, it's always about the money! I hope you hear back like tomorrow so you can get this over with real soon and be a "legal" family! Kathy -------------- Original message -------------- From: fitgrl222@... Hi everyone, The attorney called me this morning and said he found out why Social Services has taken so long to contact us. He said that when we paid him his fee's, the court cost fee's were also included in that amount. When they sent the petition over, someone (who knows who) didn't file it that we paid the court fee's, therefore they won't call you until those fee's are paid. So it was all about money! He said it is all taken care of now and that they should be calling us real soon. Can you believe that though? it has been all about money all this time. I swear, that is all what this damn world is about. It doesn't matter about the welfare of a child, just as long as you pay. Now, we wait some more. His words were "they should be calling you real soon" I wonder what real soon is? a day, a week, another month? DH is starting to get really upset over this. Hopefully the attorney is right and they will call us soon. I have my fingers crossed. Just wanted to share!!! ~~
Guest guest
Thanks for the update, ! It is awful that it was tied up over a stupid technicality. I may be biased and cynical b/c I have worked w/ lawyers and for lawyers, but stay on top of yours. I've worked w/ some really scary ones who really don't give a d@mn about their clients and are just this side of a malpractice lawsuit. Guest guest
, I didn't realize you and DH were adopting. We adopted too. (Also I was adopted and so was my sister.) Just hang in there and remember the adoptive parent's creed for dealing with the bureaucracy: " No good deed goes unpunished. " E-mail me if you want to swap adoption stories. Guest guest
, I hope you hear from them soon. I know it is a major pain in the butt dealing with all the red tape and bs, but in the end it will be worth it. You're so wonderful for being their for your family! Guest guest
, Sorry it is such a long process. I was adopted when I was 13 and I don't remember it being a big deal. Of course, my Mom and Dad knew the judge, so that probably had something to do with it. I guess you could go make friends with a judge??? LOL I'll keep praying for you and your family to have a speedy process. Tonya Re: adoption update In a message dated 2/14/2006 8:26:23 P.M. Guest guest
, No, not to personal at all. I'm a pretty open person, so don't ever worry about asking me personal questions. (Sometimes that annoys my family though, LOL) Another part of our speed might have been that it was my natural Mom and just her new husband was adopting my sister and I. I called him Jerry when they were dating and it progressed to Dad over about 6 months. Basically, when he asked my Mom to marry him, I asked him to be my Dad. But I didn't have the emotional attachment to my real father that your new daughter has to her Mom because I didn't know him. Now I just refer to him as my Dad and sometimes when I'm explaining things to people it gets confusing because they think Natural Parent whereas I'm thinking Dad as in the guy who was there for me and raised me.
