Where in the store do they keep parchment paper? I've never seen such a thing next to the wax paper -- which I tried using to make flax crackers and didn't have a lot of luck because I could get it off the flax crackers but then I don't have any kind of mesh to put it on when drying the other side so I put it on more wax paper and the top got dry but the underside got sticky again. What I need is a real dehydrator but there is no place to put one so I can't even think about that until I move to a bigger kitchen (which isn't likely to happen until after I graduate.) > Maple Buckwheat Crispies [...] > I got this from a book called " Raw Food, Real World. " I've heard of that book. Maybe at some point my library will get it. I was amazed: my library has five raw food books! this is for a metro area of, at most, 50,000 people. I figure someone must have made some requests or someone on the library staff wanted the books. I've found one other raw food person in town (or sort of found them. We're Facebook friends but haven't met in person) but with five books in the library, surely there are more of us? > PS I'd love to see the sprouted lentil recipe I sent it in a different post. It's germinated lentils, not sprouted, but it would probably taste good with slightly sprouted lentils as well. Sparrow
Guest guest
I usually find cooking parchment near the waxed paper and aluminum foil. It's fairly common in city grocery stores here in central California, though I had to ask our little grocery store here in the Sierras to carry it. Reynolds makes some, so it's fairly mainstream. You can also get larger rolls of cooking parchment from Pampered Chef for a better price. I've seen unbleached in catalogs and health food stores. Specialty baking stores or upscale kitchen-goods stores carry it too. I haven't been in a Wal-Mart in years (since I watched that documentary about how they're destroying America's economy from within) so I don't know whether they carry it or not. If you want to meet other raw food people in your area, you might organize a little raw potluck. Write up a little announcement and get your local paper to run it. Or put up a notice on the bulletin board at your health food store. I've done that a couple of times and met some nice new friends.
