I like the vanilla co2 from " A woman of uncommonscents " that I have -- no

problem with rash however my arms are not that sensitive. Secondly I love

tinctured Vanilla beans from Mexico, New Guinea and Tahiti.

I

What is your favorite vanilla for perfumery?

Vanilla absolute, oleoresin, co2, tincture or infusion?

I found a CO2 total that smelled heavenly, but all of the perfume blends with

this material

broke me out in a terrible rash, so I cannot use it (I wonder if this is a

common reaction?).

I am curious if a vanilla CO2 select does not have such an irritating effect,

has anyone out

there used it?

Have you had good results with infused vanilla for oil based perfumes, in terms

of having

a good intensity? If so, have you used the vanilla infused oil as your base for

the perfume,

or do you dilute it further with additional oil?

Thanks!

Dear Michele,

All I can offer at the moment is a comrade in beeginning arms. I have ordered

some vanillla beans from the latest blowout buy and am going to try my hand at

tincuting, making an extract(for food) and perhaps even infusing. Thus far I

have only infused flowers and roots (to very good end) for lotions , creams and

salves. Would love to infuse/tincute some saffron too! As soon as I have some

free time (perhaps later this week or this weedend) I am hoping to search the

files for the clearst instructions. I have ambergris I haven't tincutred yet!

Wish me good luck! I hope perfumer's alcohol or vodka is OK for tincutring. If

not I will have to look further I guess.

I ordered some vanilla from the co-op too! I am planning to infuse it in

fractionated

coconut oil, and also to make some vanilla sugar. Mmm..

Good luck to you!

Very intense, very wonderful results with tinctures and infusions. Long

lasting. You can do both -- either use it as a base (extremely strong), or

dilute it, as I do. I also play around and boost the complexity with some

absolute, some tonka, deerstongue, etc. We're here to learn and go wild and

set our own creative forces in motion -----> go, go, go ----> play around

and you'll be amazed at the results.

Hi Jane

Saffron stains -- but macerates beautifully, so you'll love it. Use high

proof 150 vodka if you can't get 190, unless you're willing to experiment

with some underlying scent before you get the botanical extracted.
