That sounds beautiful, and the " no synthetics " is what we're all about ;-) We have a lot of new members from perfume forums, JoAnne, and they're here to learn about natural perfumery. I know we've been discussing some synths lately, but I know if they stick around, perhaps sample some of your beautiful scents, or are inspired by the formula you shared above, we'll have many new NPers soon, lol. >I think I could wear alba rose oil and jasmine sambac every day!!! Gingergrass is another love, and yes, it is assertive. Mandy Aftel was interviewed on Donna's site this week, and she speaks of strong scents, like lemon myrtle, and how you have to be *so, so* careful. They can make -- or easily break -- a blend. >Also I have been spraying a bit of orange blossom hydrosol on my face...Warm >in La Jolla today...... Is this the stuff from Chris' co-op? It's heavenly. I was just writing to on BDJ advising her to be careful, of course, but not scared, of using jasmine absolute in food. She wants to make a gelato, I believe. Do you ever cook with absolutes? I do. I've been cooking with EOs since 1978, when I got some dill weed oil from Nichols Garden Nursery in Oregon and found only a drop goes miles in spanakopita ;-) Anya http://.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume " The Age of the Foodie is passé. It is very dear to my heart. >Gingergrass adds a really special kind of spicy note...Try blending with >it. >Don't overdue it though. A little goes a long way. Gingergrass is another love, and yes, it is assertive. Yes go easy with that one. Oakmoss is assertive also. >Also I have been spraying a bit of orange blossom hydrosol on my >face...Warm >in La Jolla today...... Is this the stuff from Chris' co-op? It's heavenly. No it is not from Chris. I bring it in myself. I love orange blossom hydrosol. I drink it also just straight or mix in water or with another hydrosol.... I added Neroli oil to whipped cream once and it went on top of a cake....yummmmmmmmmmm. Cooking with essential oils is fun..great for marinades....a little goes a long way....In Bellevue, WA I marinaded a salmon with dill essential oil and some other herbs. Can be strong. Love to use fennel in food. I better stop I am getting hungry.... Oh today I am wearing my Shauca healing parfum roll on, Divine Essence 2, and Divine Essence 5. That is what happens when you have a store with testers..... grins........ Guest guest
> > It might be good for some of our perfumers to keep little sample vials on > them to give out when they get a compliment. Never thought of that. I always wear my perfume pendant, with Espionage in it (my signature perfume). I also carry the tiny sample vials of (almost) all my perfumes, carried in an aluminum double sided cigarette case... If soemone falls in love, they can get a sample! Also, if they ask questions about my pendant, I can always tell them what I do, and let them smell my perfume collection. Espionage is my signature perfume and my most favourite perfume of all times - a Woody Oriental, Oriental Leathery scent, with a dry down of musky vanilla. It's a " skin scent " which means it stays close to the skin and also smells like a sensual, soft and warm skin... Top notes: Cedarwood, Leather and smoke notes Heart notes: Rose Otto, Fresh Jasmine Base notes: Musk notes, Vanilla It has costus in it, which is essential to make it what it is. I have a different formula for the Espionage I sell for three reasons - 1) It may not smell strong enough for my customers 2) It smells different on my skin and since it is my signature perufme, it may just not work for other people (and I can stay special LOL!) 3) I haven't decided what to do with costus yet. It is so important for creating a musk note in natural perfumery, yet it is considered a sensitizer... Sometimes I think though: if Serge Lutens can use his crazy musks, why can't I? I think would label it and have a warning though, if I decide to go public with my costus-based perfumes. Guest guest
OK -- back to this ;-) I'm layering a light accord I made of pinkgrapefruit, hystrix, calamondin and blood orange (part of my homage to the 1200 citrus varieties at UC Riverside's citrus research center, which I have named (working name ;-) Citrus Maximus) over the faint sandalwood on my wrist after anointing them with kewda attar last night. Just prolonging the loveliness. Anya http://.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume " The Age of the Foodie is passé. It is now the Age of the Scentie. Guest guest
I need to wear my Tres Bon almost daily now. A fresh green woody floral (not 100% natural) to support me during these dark days in Pittsburgh. I am burning a candle with Lavandin Absolute combined with Lavender fine, clary sage, bergamot, Lavandin Abrialis, in my therapy office. very helpful now. Dorothy Dorothy McCall, Cert. Aroma. Guest guest
I am wearing my Espionage (aka my ultimate signature perfumes of all times, never regret putting it on, no matter which mood I am in). It's a woody, musky-vanilla oriental, with leather and lavender notes, and a heart of rose and jasmine. It has the forbidden costus in it, the beloved goat-scented musk plant, which I adore! Guest guest
I'm wearing Ayala's Moon Breath -- fragipani floral delight over an ambery base -- and I usually don't like ambers, so this is a great accomplishment on her part.. Tuned into the waxing moon in Pisces, sensitive, watery, fertile - planting tomatoes and blending perfumes. It's a good day.
