Guest guest
Hey Edgar, where do you live and where do you shop? Most stores have more than one brand of dry beans. Here in my neighborhood 'Goya' brand is a canned bean. You're better off buying on line. With the seeds in the store, you don't know where they were grown and how they were treated. Organic is the best health wise. ew Problem sprouting Goya beans Date: Mon, 11 Aug 2008 16:14:27 -0400 All, Have been trying to sprout Goya brand beans but they always seem to go sour first. This is the only kind of dry beans available in my supermarkets around here. Anyone else had this problem or have a fix? They also have just a hint of souring when I soak overnight to cook but not enough not to cook them. I've sprouted beans before and never had this problem. I also wonder if whatever the souring organism is whether it affects storage life but haven't had any problems so far with dry storage. Thanks, Edgar Sunshine makes the flowers dance. Guest guest
Edgar, take a look around the store-- here, up the street from me, Goya has it's own area for dry beans in the mexican section, but other dry beans are on another isle. Maybe your's has other beans too? Myself, I would stick to organic ones. Not sure what's on them, otherwise! Guest guest
Thia and Ernest, Unfortunately Pathmark has only the Goya brand. I'll check the Shopright but that is further away.
