Guest guest
Hi Ayala, Liberty has gotten a fair amount of criticism for not having the best oils, etc. But I still think they have their virtues. Their prices are good, you can purchase very small samples very inexpensively, and I've found their service good and their people helpful. If you ask for someone who is very familiar with their oils (there is a fellow there who I was very helpful in tipping me off to the better products that they carry) you can get good advice. I ordered about 1/2 dozen of their rose absolutes/ottos and didn't care for any. Probably for the finest and most expensive oils you'll have to go elsewhere. But I certainly wouldn't discourage an order of samples. You'll probably find something you like. They do have a remarkably wide range of oils. I wonder if some of the more experienced perfumers can respond to a question I've always wondered about. Is it really necessary to have the finest ingredients? I can't spend a whole lot of money and 99.9% of my perfumes end up going down the drain anyway. I blend to learn about the essences and how they combine and interact. Hopefully, my skill as a perfumer increases with my experimentation. However, if I stick with the not-so-finest ingredients, will my progress and knowledge be impared? I can see wanting to use the best ingredients for a final product, but not for the day to day practice. - F.

Don't even get me started on supporting organically grown over conventionally produced *GRIN* Pure, unadulterated essential oils are important in aromatherapy and perfumery. The scent quality is also important. If you blend a perfume that lands up going down the drain due to inferior quality oils, you've wasted time and money. And you will not learn about the blending results of using high quality oils. I came to aromatherapy originally from the food industry. The motto wass use the best YOU CAN AFFORD. That's true in making sauces, sausages, salads and synergies. Using inferior grade oils does more than save you money. It promotes the production of inferior oils. It's often up to the consumer of any commodity to draw a line that producers and manufacturers will respect and honor when it comes to quality. Remember, we vote with our dollars in a free market. So, if you can afford to pay more, say for a fine Black Pepper essential oil, or Clove Bud essential oil from a REPUTABLE distributor, treat yourself to the smallest amount possible and test out this for yourself. See if you notice a difference in a perfume blend that you are already happy with. Hi In my experience, and it aint that much -I've tried the cheaper ones and the absolutely high quality ones and you know what- the cheaper ones dont even show the smell of what is expected or read about- most of mine went down the drain that way- If you try the more expensive (I mean high quality) ones, they will last you longer and you may get a blend to treasure lot more easier.. my 2 cents- AT isnt about smell coz cheaper or finer oils may show same therapeutic effects but perfumes are about smell -so finest is best... Hello , I agree with Esther, in that the fragrance of lower quality EOs may not even be close to what a high quality EO can be. I have personally experienced this, so I speak from past events. A poor quality oil can really hide or distort some aspects of a fragrance that can sing in a high quality oil. I think you should use the best quality oils that you can afford to buy. That may not be the most expensive vendor out there, because it is based on your pocketbook, but the best you can reach for will make a big difference in the outcome of your creations. Guest guest
Very trustworthy. I would say this is a great place to start (they have everything) but I like Essential Oil University (essentialoils.org, _only_ this address), White Lotus Aromatics, and Eden Botanicals for the highest-quality products. Guest guest
> Does anyone know about Libertynaturals.com and the quality of their products? > Thanks > Henk Hello Henk, I buy from several suppliers, including Liberty. The best way to decide what you want to buy in quantity is to purchase samples from different suppliers. It's really rewarding to compare samples of the same ingredient from the different suppliers. Sometimes they can smell totally different from each other, and other times you can hazard a fairly reasonable guess that the different suppliers purchased from the same producer. Then you can get the one that has the best price. That being said, there are also several suppliers who I'd love to purchase from, but being monetarily challenged, I've not been able to yet. They're still on my wish list. And I keep buying a lottery ticket each week! Cheers! Andrine
Guest guest
Does anyone know about Libertynaturals. com and the quality of their products? Thanks Henk> I like Liberty just fine. I've ordered many times from them. They do have an enormous selection, which can be a good and a bad thing. For instance they have 9 different varieties of chamomile! And a lot of other eos they have from 3 to 5 different varieties, mostly from different countries. Which one to order!?!  I've gotten good essences from them, in fact I prefered their champaca absolute to another vendor that I' usually order from, for instance. They also have lots of other things, other than essential oils and absolutes, like concretes, floral waxes, soaping supplies, some bulk herbs, incense, books(then again you probably knew that).  I've never ordered from White Lotus, but I've heard their stuff is good. I enjoy looking at the newsletters on their website. They discuss the aromatics and where they are from and how they are extracted, the use in the cultures, etc. I usually order from Eden Botanicals. I like mostly all of their stuff, they have good prices, they are friendly and have good customer service, and they give you four free samples that you can pick!  They have no minimum order, Liberty has a $50 minimum, and White Lotus has a $100 minimum(which is why I've never ordered from them) which is easy to rack up with essences, but sometimes I like to just get a couple of things or get some inexpensive items, or I dont want to spend a bunch of money at one time for some essences. Guest guest
Thank you all for the responses on Liberty. I will definetely order from them in the future. I wish their site was more visitor friendly and the order process easier. I hate the frame-layout :)
Guest guest
I have noticed that Liberty has the best price I have seen so far on Mysore Sandalwood. 1 oz for less than $100. I want to know about their quality - how pure is the sandalwood? Do they include ANY chemicals(or other oils) in their oils or absolutes? What about the sandalwood...why is it so much cheaper? I hate the frame-layout :) I can't use their site at all with Mozilla Firefox. Just for them I have to run Internet Explorer. Crazy... Though, once I have it running, their site is fairly straight forward. I just get it so that I have a list of their oils on the left side, then I click what I want and it comes up on the right side, leaving the list still visible on the left so I can click on whatever else I want without having to go back a page each time. Cheers, Andrine
