Guest guest
Hope this helps. My program is young, but I see about 1-2 pts per day. It should be more than that but we're having trouble getting the follow-up. We offer no late hours. The latest I go is 5pm. I expect them to make time for me just like they make time for their doctor. Guest guest
My program is about 1 ½ years old – but I have only been here for 5 months. I see anywhere from 1-9 pts/day and about 8-22/wk. Currently we offer hours from 9-5 and are doing fairly well with f/u – but that is also our goal for 2007 (to improve pt f/u) K. Guest guest
Just interested in those that use the LEARN program:What is the length of time that you have patients participate in the program prior to Bariatric Surgery?Who teaches or is involved with the program? Is it covered by third party payors? If it is not covered by insurance, do you require people to do the course anyway? Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, I am Rose Guidry, RD, LD. , a returning member. I just relocated to Tyler Texas, from Galveston Texas where I worked at the Center For Weight Management at the University of Texas Medical Branch for 2 years as a Bariatric Dietitian. I used the LEARN Program. We had a year program, meeting once a month. The program is designed for 3 month to a year. The length of time depended on the insurance requirement. Some required 1 year of Medically Supervised Program prior to surgery, others 3 months, 6 months. The yearly group, of course met once a month. The others could be seen individually, or they would join the yearly group because of the cost, then finish the program post surgically. I proposed the program for our Team, so the Dietitians led the program. But we had guess speakers, such as our Clinical Psychologist who was in our team, and P.T.'s. The speakers would depend on the subject that was to be discussed. We charged the program as a fee for service, so they had to pay up front. We encouraged them to file with their insurance company for reimbursement, because the insurance company was the one requiring them to be part of a program prior to surgery. We did not required them to be in a program, however they had to have at least 3 visits with a dietitian. This was our clinic requirement. Guest guest
Rose, Thank you so much for the information. Just to clarify then, you can buy this LEARN program and once it is yours, you can teach from it and charge the patients for the classes...I was wondering about copywright issues etc. I appreciate your input, > > > > We have a bariatric program offering laparoscopic gastric bypass, lap > > band and gastrivc sleeve procedures. We also have a non surgical > > lifestyle management program. > > Currently I see all pre op patients and post op by referral from the > > team including the surgeons and co lead all support groups (weekly > and > > monthly) My latest bariatric appointment is 4pm > > > > In the weight management program we see patients up til 630pm > > > > Ciara > > > > > > > > > This e-mail message is intended only for the named recipient(s) above and is covered by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act 18 U.S.C. Guest guest
Yes, all the material is copywrited. The company requires that you buy the material from them. You can not copy the workbook or any materials without permission. But you don't have to pay them any fees to use the program. Guest guest
Our weight management program is a lifestyle program incorporating behavior modification, nutrition and exercise. We have a physician who is our medical director, a nurse who does the behavior component, me as an RD and an exercise physiologist. It is a 6 month program and the patients meet with us individually and in group sessions. We also do blood tests and an EKG at the beginning and end of the program. Key components are food and fitness journaling, weekly visits and a free online support group. I hope this helps Ciara
