We've learned that recommending 50mg a day of elemental zinc quickly eliminates the aftertaste often described by early RNY post-ops. Disappears almost immediately when zinc therapy begins. Make sure that the patient does not take the zinc long term, (unless a deficiency is confirmed by labs) to avoid a copper deficiency.
