Guest guest
Today we learned that our friend and colleague recently took his own life. Little is know so far, other than his passing. His family has been contacted and a memorial service hopefully can be arranged here in town. Does anyone else have any further information regarding this sad news. Jaysun G. Guest guest
Vern, I'm so moved by your post. You are a man of great honesty and depth. was a wonderful man. He performed 2-3 IMEs on my patients. They were helpful and fair. I never took issue with his findings. He was also a very giving man, donating time to the profession to help with legislative goals that ultimately raised the profession's overall financial well being. I'm so saddened to hear this news. If anyone knows of a memorial or funeral or a way we can contact the family to express our condolences, please post it. Minga Guerrero DC In a message dated 4/8/2010 7:30:23 A.M. He worked for WSCC for a while and may have been at the time of his death part time and over the last few years he started performing IMEs for the PIP insurers. and I had several conversations over the last couple of years about those IMEs and some of those findings and I know he had to be aware that he had several disgruntled colleagues in primarily the Portland-Metro area. Several colleagues had mentioned to me how they were exceedingly "ticked off" about this or that IME report had written on their patient and then the usual disparaging remarks would follow. Yet, at least around me was upbeat, smiling, and would pull me aside and confide in me about this or that issue asking my opinion. He attended many of the courses I put on or was involved in such as the 6th Edition of the AMA Guides class on permanent impairment rating taking all three weekends, the going to court seminar, he was down in San Francisco at the Croft Whiplash series, and most recently the "Mock Trial" deal I put on at WSCC. also supported the profession as an ICE PAC contributor and he had asked on several other occasions what else he could do to help politically. When I now slow down and think about it was always alone, never attempting to join a group of us when we were talking in a group, or going to lunch, or dinner because I'm certain he knew some of his colleagues were down on him because of the IME - thing. What really troubles my heart as I sit here and type this note is I remember very clearly being alone yet again one afternoon after class down in San Francisco at the Croft seminar, I sitting with a Portland area doctor who had given me an ear full about a recent IME did on his patient, and then a group of us all going to go to dinner together. As we were leaving the hotel to walk down the bayside walk I saw and wanted to invite him to dinner with all of us because there again he stood alone but, then I thought to myself well the other doctors may not want me to especially the Portland doc who had given me an earful and so I didn't walk over an invite him and now as I sit here I don't feel all that wonderful about myself. There is now no second chance with I profess to be a Christian man of faith but I left standing there and I for one feel horrible and ask our Lord for forgiveness. Let this be a reminder to us all in regards to how we treat others our spouse, our children, other family members, friends, associates, or colleagues because we may not get a second chance to make things right.... Guest guest
was a classmate and friend of mine. Regretfully I hadn't seen or spoken with him in 4 or 5 years. Its always tragic when a young man takes his own life and I hope has the peace he needs.
