Hi everyone, for those of you that are new to CMT and Peripheral

Neuropathy, you might find this book a good resource. " Numb Toes, Aching

Soles " by Senneff. He just has PN of which CMT is a type of PN. (PN

meaning Peripheral Neuropathy) His PN came on in the mid-80s. But it's

got a decent crash course in neurology and describes some things that

can help - some of which we have talked about on this list. I am just

telling you about it thinking you might glean some things from it. I got

my copy from and Noble.com ($19.95) Amazon.com has it too.

I have the book too, and I agree, but people should read Dorothy's book

review cautions before following his suggestions. He does caution people as

well, but CMT has enough problems to need to be extra cautious.

Here is the direct route to Dorothy Gosling's review of " Numb Toes and Aching

Soles. "

" For a person with CMT, this book can provide detailed insight into the

damage that is caused to their nerves by CMT, the pain which is often

associated with CMT, and different pain treatments which are available for a

disease which causes nerve damage. Ideas for coping with CMT are also

covered, and it provides methods for preventing complications from CMT.

However, there are several areas of the book which are not applicable to CMT

or any Hereditary Neuropathy. Please be aware that, while reading this book

may give you a good understanding of the nerve damage, some of the treatments

that are mentioned for Peripheral Neuropathy in general, have been shown to

actually cause more damage to CMT affected nerves. For this reason the reader

with CMT should be very cautious about using any of the treatments mentioned

and should consult their doctor before using any of the treatments. "
