It's a fine attribute to be politically active and I can feel your excitement.However............For those of you who don't remember 1990.Who wanted to and almost caused the ruination of our profession? The democrats. Who always told us the door was always open to us and then slammed our fingers in the door jamb? The democrats. No, Never again. I remember their lies, deceit, and back room deals. We need a real change in Oregon. I'm not voting for another democrat! So my fine patriots, let the discussion begin. Please keep it civil.Neil R. Cohen, D.C. Important message for the future of Chiropractic in Oregon Greetings to all. Now is an important time to address the future of ourprofession, but the time is getting shorter. Let me explain. Forthose of you who attended the Oregon Chiropractic Association convention thislast weekend, you had the opportunity to listen to Governor Candidate BillBradbury deliver a message to chiropractors in Oregon. Basically he has provided anopen invitation for our profession into his doors if he is to become ourGovernor. I can not emphasize how important this means to thisprofession. Although we may not receive everything we ask of him, theability to even be heard is one we’ve not had in the history of ourprofession in this State. The race for Oregon’sGovernor is becoming closer between Mr. Bradbury and Kitzhaber, M.D. We have been told that if Mr. Bradbury receives $30,000 by the end of thisweek, then the Teacher’s Union andLobbying groups will endorse him. Historically, whoever is endorsed bythe teachers have become our Governor. I challenged the attendees at thisweekend’s convention to help this cause and make an investment towardsthe future of our profession. About one third of the attendees of theconvention participated in this challenge. I want to personally thankeach and every one of you that contributed whatever you could, and as a result,we donated over $13,000 to Mr. Bradbury on Sunday. As you can see, there is still a discrepancy of funds neededto ensure his endorsement from the teachers. I am now asking those onthis email listserve to contact Bill Bradbury’s office immediately tooffer whatever you can this week. Remember, this is an investment in yourability to practice chiropractic the way you wish, with the ultimate goal ofleveling the playing field with all other health care providers. Toinvest $100, $500 or $1000 now, could bring your personal office a milliondollars in return, if we get the right person in the Governors office. Ithink right now, we have the opportunity to put him there. Call hisoffice today and talk with Mazzara at 503-206-4501 or 541-490-2330. Remember, we need this money to him by theend of this week. I do not know what will happen if he earnsless. Let’s not find out. This could be your best investment for yourprofession. Thank you again for your support and cooperation. Steve DeShaw, DC

I am with you 100% Dr. Cohen. I remember those times. And, as someone who

looks at politics through other than their chiropractically colored glasses, I

am so afraid that Kitzhaber or Bradbury will ruin the last chances Oregon has of

being competitive for the creation of jobs and lowering our taxes.

I don't think Bill Bradbury has our best interests in mind, now or at any other

time.

Let's " Hope " for " Change " in Oregon this election cycle.

Neil I remember well what a deceitful piece of work Neil Goldschmidt was but I also remember his AG who was a republican who prosecuted myself and my son and two others for quackery and endangering the public health. I don't care who gets into office it appears that hindsight is the only way to tell who was good and who tried to destroy us.

Herb,

1990 was a terrible time and many in the profession remember those dark days. The name Stan Long will live burned into our memories.

Your part in it, and your exoneration through your "trial by fire" deserve to be remembered. Perhaps, for the sake of history and those in the practice who weren't here then or who don't remember, perhaps you could share a little of the facts. I'd like to hear them again, if you don't mind sharing it with us all.

I gave $100.00 to Bradbury's campaign at the OCA convention this weekend. I will be sending another $50.00 today...

However, several doctors (the ones who are ALWAYS pushing the "chiropractic rock" up the hill, while the rest of us blissfully continue to practice, unaware of their efforts) made "challenges" to each other for $500.00 and $1,000.00 (numerous, numerous people gave this amount). I even believe Dr. Carrick...one of our SPEAKERS, gave money to the OCA!!.

So, come on people...EVERYBODY on this list serve should write a check TODAY for some denomination to support this profession (a profession that has supported all of us), and that has provided our patients with a form of treatment they can receive no where else.

Dr. DeShaw is not exaggerating... Does anyone need to be reminded who was governor when SB 1197 occurred? Do we really want to even take a CHANCE of returning to that "draconian" type of government in Oregon???

GET YOUR CHECK BOOKS OUT, write a check, and then call every friend/chiropractor you know, and tell THEM to write a check...(put a flyer on your front desk and ask your PATIENTS to write a check to Bradbury).

All of the hard work these chiropractors/lobbies/elected officials have put in the last 10 years to protect PIP, and to make in-roads into WC, could all be ERASED by the WRONG elected official!! (think about this for a moment, and then WRITE A CHECK!) (and if you're not an OCA member, write a BIGGER check...).

Thank you Dr s for your comment.

I am on the OCA board and was challenged at the convention last week to contribute and I did on the spot. As we went around the big room Sunday afternoon many DC's united for the first time in 20 years to a cause greater than our selfish selves. The point was we picked something like a gov campaign not much of us know about and now have a rallying point. It won't be the last. When we position ourselves united everybody wakes up. I hope you write a check Dr Neil and you others as well as we get this great profession of ours back in order again.
