A patient whom I’ve treated occasionally came in and asked me to work magic on her hip.

She then told me that her M.D. Told her in no uncertain terms not to allow a chiropractor to manipulate her neck as she had seen several patients who had problems after neck manipulation.

Should I:

roll over and submissively hope she continues to allow me to manipulate the thoracic and lumbar spine; try to out-logic the doctor through the patient citing the incredible weight of research and the lack of orthopedic training in internal medicine thus losing the argument before it begins due to her being pre-validated by her station in life; ignore it and chalk it up to another day, another kick in the (fill in body part); write to the doctor asking her to defend her position noting that spinal adjusting is rigorously monitored by my own state board and my specialty is not typically questioned by colleagues in allied health areas; write to the doctor peer to peer, and ask her to meet to have me demonstrate my screening procedure for safety, present 5 peer reviewed articles supporting the safety and efficacy of spinal adjusting, offer to adjust her or any of her staff or my employee, and if she turns me down, go stand in her in the lobby outside her office in the medical mall, handing out flyers that cautions patients that their doctor may be prescribing medications which have been proven to be poorly researched (Celebrex, Vioxx, etc.), have been shown to be worthless (Lipitor, Zocor), and may be dangerous to her health (most of them).

Anyone want to join the poll on what I’ll do?
