Guest guest
If I use a regular salad dressing, I use the light version. The FF is too sweet and too high in sugar. I'll take fat over sugar in my dressing <G>. I make a dressing with flax oil, balsamic vinegar, brown mustard, and spices. There are two recipes at www.mrsbishwits.com Colleen > I've tried the FatFree dressings in the store...yuck. Guest guest
> Any approximations on the oil/vinegar ratio? > > Sounds good! > In the " typical " situation, it would be two to three times oil to vinagar...but for BFL I use the ratio of let's say, 1 tbl oil to two of vinagar (that is excluding the splash of Balsamic). Gee, I do this by site...I use appro. 1 1/2 teas. mustard. A " shake " of garlic powder. Hope it helps...I am a guessamater, but it sure beats the bottled stuff with all those other " things " in them (sugar, preservitives and heaven knows what else) And I really do not like Newmans...doesn't seem to have enough flavor. Guest guest
Lorraine, I just found a pretty decent Caesar. It's got 2g of fat and tastes pretty darn good (for low fat). It's called Just 2 Good by Wishbone. I also can tolerate Hidden Valley's Light (not fat free) and it's got around 5g of fat, I think. Guest guest
Thanks, I'll have to try that. DH and I went out to eat last night. I had pasta because I figured that wouldn't be TOO bad if I watched the portion and had a meatball with it for some protein. Unfortunately, the only lowfat or fatfree dressing they had was the Hidden Valley Ranch fat free....ugh. I gave the salad to hubby, couldn't even get it down. Guest guest
I like to take a good quality dijon and whisk some (not too much or it will be too strong) in with balsamic vinegar ... easy and good. I like to put in on a green salad made w/lots of veggies, a portion of canned tuna, and a small diced steamed potato. > > I've tried the FatFree dressings in the store...yuck.
