Guest guest
Crossfit? Ever see the guys and gals coming out of there? I live right around the corner and see them all the time. Most of them are ripped! With all due respect that doesnt necessarily mean they're high performance athletes at all. Loads of firemen, police men etc go there. My cousin goes to Crossfit. He's ripped. He's not an athlete. A diet such as that (especially HIGH PROTEIN) would make sense for putting on muscle bulk. Crossfit is in the business of putting on muscle and reducing fat. Show me real professional athletes/olympians etc. that are doing this. If this gives any kind of edge you can bet they're will be plenty. Look, there are obviously benefits to reducing the amounts/types of carbs one ingests. Eliminating grains, especially whole grains completely wreaks of a drastic dietary fad. Grains fad? Ancient asian, middle eastern, mexican, european cultures have utilized them since the beginning of time. Most of those cultures enjoy a life with much less cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes etc. than modern americans. Cutting grains completely: last 10 years maybe? Still not drinking the Koolaid. ph Medlin D.C.Spine Tree Chiropractic1607 NE Alberta StPDX, OR 97211503-788-6800 Re: Endocrine disrupters Re: “It is a fad and extreme because you are ELIMINATING carbs. Guest guest
Forgot the evolution part. 2 million years of man. 10-15k years of grain in amounts that could be considered a substantial food source. Evolutionarily speaking, grains have been around a VERY small amount of time, hence the fad part. It is hypothesized that we have not genetically caught up with grains (and of course refined carbs) and the result is insulin resistance, fatty liver and a multitude of immune responses. Just a hypothesis, but one that is being confirmed by a growing body of research. We will see. As regards Crossfit, it is an athletics of a different form. Instead of intense endeavor in one area, the emphasis is on generalized fitness and ability in all areas of exercise. Getting ripped does not make one an athlete. The ability to perform and compete does make an athlete. As far as what professional athletes eat, I have no idea. I know the Blazers have been known to put all sorts of illegal substances in their bodies. Many others use steroids and could better show us how to party than eat.
