Guest guest
There is nothing " new " in this legislation it has been on the statute book for some time. There were numerous posts on IDMA over this issue, but I would need to dig through files to find it. Basically any product made using an essential oil containing more than a tiny percentage of the supposed " sensitisers " must bear a warning label. Included in that list is the linalool in lavender oil and many others. The legislation is mad and based on lousy science but until such time as the EEC collapses we are stuck with their crap. I have dozens of files on this and if you need them I can send as email attachments if you contact me off line on info@... > Hi, > > Am I correct in understanding that new European legislation requires > that natural products carry comprehensive allergen information? Ummm, here we go again .... this legislation is based on the advocacy of people that do not want synthetics, not the EEC. The EEC is only following the voice of the vocal minority. The big perfume companies are against it.... but they can adapt. In answer to the Lain's post, yes it has been very difficult for the perfume companies, but the computer and analytical power allow them to manage. The solution is simple, keep below the limits and use synthetics.... this was discussed in an earlier thread. I'll repeat, the parties that wanted to ban synthetics, ended up restricting naturals. The COLIPA list came from the pro natural and environmentalist groups. I will not dwell any longer on this issue. The laws have been passed. Those that pushed these laws need to " scientifically " test and prove that they made a mistake. As I mentioned before, synthetics are much easier to control and approve for toxicology/allergenicity. -= ß =- _______________________________________________________
