Neil,

A dietary approach:

Inflammation is the hallmark of MS (sclerosing being the end result of CNS inflammation).

Prevent inflammation via diet management step 1: stop eating grains/cereals and dairy.

IgG4 food allergy testing finds other culprits.

Take papaya or Similase digestive enzymes with each meal for insurance.

Greetings Everyone:

I have a patient with MS, diagnosed 13 years ago. Male 44 years of age. He is not doing well with the MD approach and desires a different direction such as an alternative approach. I have been treating him for musculo-skeletal problems but would like him to see one who works more with these types of problems.

Suggestions?

Neil, For once Dr. is right........ or at least we are in agreement for once.

I have a patient who, without the support of an ND or any other nutritional guru has made some positive strides via diet.

She did a complete clense, shut out all alcohol, dairy, smoking etc. and has DENIED medical pharma much to the dismay of the MD's. They did another scan of her brain about a year later and found that all the lesions had reduced in size and she had only one small new one. MD's were further dismayed.

Personally, i'd send her out to an ND or a nutritionist and have them work closely with them to come up with a plan.

He can also try the Swank diet - which is basically no fats. I did this for about the first year of my MS. Fish oil and vitamin D are also good to be on...

I too have a patient that was diagnosed with MS over 30 years ago and is symptom free due to a dietary approach, but she also insists that it's all about mind and body so she does yoga as well. She also hooked up with a doctor in England that has it and through a specific supplement approach (lots of oils) her symptoms are gone. She a a dear woman and on more than one occasion has talked to other patients about her approach. I know she would be delighted to talk to either you or your patient or both. Let me know.Judith Allan, DC, PCLake OswegoOn Jan 14, 2010, at 11:50 AM, joe medlin wrote: Neil, For once Dr. is right........ or at least we are in agreement for once.
