Oh my goodness no. He goes to school. He has been in the same school since headstart and he is now 13. Had a really good speech teacher and he can have back and forth conversations. In fact right now he has that teen mouth going so bad I just remind myself that Yes, I did want him to talk. He has a really great teacher. He has even been on the Oklahoma Honor roll for the last couple of years. He has had some problems in school since this whole vertigo thing went wild. They are working with him.

As far as my husband there is no better. I worry about him sometimes cause he will be 67 next month. He don't slow down for anything. I do have one rule that when 9 PM has come if any of the babies, that includes the furry ones, want something I will get it or too bad. lol. That is time for hubby to get to sleep.

I have dealt with the PCOS for a long time. In fact was my 13th pregnancy and first live birth. Most were lost early on two of them after five months. I was cursed with knowing right away when I got pregnant. With I went to the doctor when I was four DAYS pregnant got the serum pregnancy test. So I was under pretty good care. It all came down to the fact that he is one determined little penguin. I got the diagnosis of PCOS about 2 1/2 years ago when I was too old to have any more babies. I am now 47. I do the whole metformin, ortho, and spiro thing. I will tell doctor after doctor that I don't eat enough to weigh 285 pounds of course none will listen, they would check my thyroid which would be fine. Finally one did listen. I have now lost 110 pounds. It was so cool to buy another wedding ring. It was a size 11 and now is a size 8.

That is about my life so far.

If you can send pictures here through email I have a great one of and Shaker that just shows his personality to a T.

Welcome Amylee. I am Shirley (a displaced Oklahoman-Major Co currently living in North Carolina). I only joined the group recently and they have been a wonderful source of support. Personally my challenges are severe chronic pelvic pain caused in part or total by endometriosis.

Thats good that he has had good teachers all along... Congrats to him for being on the honor roll!!!

Now elementary was pure Hades. I even had a big fight with them once cause he wanted to eat his ice cream cone before lunch. Geez.

Now do you have the vertigo or your son???

I have the vertigo. Besides the autism is too healthy. You know how it is to feed a teen.

Oh AmyLee, I'm so sorry about all your miscarriages

:o( That is so sad :o( I feel for you... I've had six pregnancies, three misscarriages, one after 4 1/2 months, three live births, losing our one daughter at 16 months to a terrible disease...

Oh dear to lose a baby when they are 16 months that is sad.

I have a son who is 34 and a daughter who is 30 and three beautiful grand daughters, 10, 9, and 7... I had endo real bad... Had a hysterectomy at 40, which I have never regretted... The endo pain was unbearable at times...

When I was about 21 they wanted to do a hysterectomy on me and I was too scared to go through it. Now I can't wait for menopause. lol.

Thankfully you have a beautiful son :o)

CONGRATS on all the weight lose!!! Isn't it terrible when you KNOW something is wrong and the Dr's. won't listen...

OH yes a good doctor is worth their weight in gold.

You could teach my son some things. He is a total junk food junkie. That is good that you have good eating habits. I have a feeling if I was living alone it would be everything in the microwave.

Too true. I had one that I went to that caused on of the miscarriages. Then there was this psych that kept feeding meds and made him fat. Now his metabolism is screwed up but he is finally growing and slimming a little on his own. Stay away from the bad ones. Like I tell people those doctors WORK for you so they can be fired.

I used to eat a lot of junk food at fast food places until the fateful day that sugar caught up with me! never occured to me that this low protein, high sugar food was the culprit

Gotta think of that, if I am really out for a long time and being aware of what can happen if I disobey my body needs, I eat out but try to make it count, If within a half hour of home, I make it home to a good lunch. I buy a few frozan meals for those times, these are pretty good and cheap, I love Michelina,s big variety and only .99 to 1.69 each

And yes I do occasionally go off the wagon, I eat some chocolate, give myself an excuse for doing that and it does not hurt as long as I have stuck to the prescribed food regime the nutritionist gave me.

Seems in times of stress I get antsy for sweets, I just got off one such trip,I had to take someone to small claims court, I won! He had replaced an old storm door with a cheap storm door in the belief that I was a fool , he has done this to a lot of people but one more judgement and he knew the gig was up ,and the States fraud division would get all judgements against him and he would be in big dodo, so he replaced my door at once, he had put an 88.00 door in, charged me 279.00 for it, woohoo ! stood up for my rights and I watched in glee as he had to take down the cheap door and put in this lovely new good door! It is a Forever door worth much more!! That was a super high!

That is how you pay them back. Plus if anyone you know wants to know about the place tell them to stay clear. If you lived in Oklahoma, USA, I could take you to some really great restaurants. Our little town doesn't have a post office, they get rural delivery, but there are nine cafes around here. But there also a big lake which is a big draw.

That is cool. A place close by has this buffet style chinese food and loves it. He likes to really see his food before he decides what he wants to eat. I don't know how most kids with autism are when they are younger but he was a really picky eater. I never did that GF/CF diet with him. In fact I just pretty well let him be him. The only thing that I restrict is pepsi. If I let him he would drink it all day. He gets 6 oz in the morning I guess like a morning coffee and 6 oz after school.

why do people try to cheat other people so much. sometimes i wonder if i

can trust anyone because so many people take advantage of others. i

bought bad food today at the shopping mall but i only ate a bit of it

and i couldn't finish. it was from the chinese place and they have nasty

chemicals they put in food at some of those and i can tell because it

makes my skin feel bad and i get very thirsty and a headache. so i

stopped eating it and put it in the trash. i will not buy from that

the city where i live has a lot of asian people living here and a lot of

good asian places. the food halls in shopping malls are a bad place to

buy it though. there is a hawker market type place about 15 minutes in a

car away from where i live and that has mostly asian people eat there

and the food is very good. it costs a lot less than in the shopping

malls too.

Same thng here, once the food store had a lot of shrimp out for tasters, I took one smell and decided itwas bad , it literally stunk and women were eating it!

I eat a lot of shrimp as it is very cheap from Hannafords, it is farm raised, no one can tell me that the freebies were not bad. An English person lives on a lot of fish and shellfish, we certainly know fish! I used to buy the family groceries and knew exactly what was right and fresh!

i was a picky eater but i was forced to eat what was on my plate whether it was revolting or not. i had some special diet for a while that i couldn't eat milk and some other stuff but my father stopped bothering with it and then just made no artificial additives. now that i am adult i try foods before i say i don't like them and i do eat a lot of different things but i still have some things that gross me out totally.

I NEVER force that child to try anything. He went through a stage for awhile if he couldn't see inside of something, like it was wrapped up with stuff inside he wouldn't eat it. I solved that and just cut it in half. at 13 we are just now thinking about that whole thing about him living on his own. I can't tell the future but I am trying to get him ready for it just in case.

Wow it sounds like you really have it all planned out. The main thing that I am teaching right now is not to let people take advantage of him. I think that room mate idea sounds pretty good. He can't qualify for a lot of services cause DDD or in some states DDSD says there also has to be a diagnosis of mental retardation. There is a wave going on right now for them to view autism as a disability with no other conditions involved. Even the ones who qualify there is a seven year wait in Oklahoma.

nobody ever thought i could live on my own but i did for 4 years. i had

home care ladies that came to help me on 2 or 3 days each week and they

took me to the shops or to my doctor. then i moved to the country and i

had no home care ladies and that was more difficult. it didn't work out

and i came back to the city and back to my old doctor because the

country doctor was an idiot. i live with a friend now but i don't have

any home care staff. i do the housework and i cook most of our meals. it

is easy to live with him because he's quiet and he likes things tidy. he

goes to work 6 days a week for 9 hours so i get the house to myself a

lot. i don't drive a car so i have some difficulty getting around

because of public transport. with OCD and autism it is hard to catch

buses or trains especially if there are a lot of people on them.

if i have to walk a long way when my joints are sore or the chronic

fatigue is flaring then i use an electric scooter thing called a

shoprider. i call it the dorkmobile though. i can put all the shopping

in the bag that goes on the back of it or in the basket on the front and

it's easy to drive it. i use that if i need to carry things home or if

it's a long walk. the battery lasts quite a long time. with the

dorkmobile i don't need ladies to drive me to the shops. the house where

me and my friend are renting is about 10 minute walk from where my

doctors rooms are so i just walk there and take my time. most things

that are hard about living alone there are ways to get around it but it

sometimes takes a bit of thinking and planning.
