Young patient with partial sacralization considering surgery

I have consulted with a 18 y-o female with chronic low back pain, MD-directed imaging and evaluation showed unilateral L5-S1 sacralization. Ortho is offering to surgically remove the pseudoarthrosis. This seems rather radical. Any suggestions for conservative care or second opinion? Hacmac, DC
