I've had nutrionists tell me the hcl version is better, but don't have any evidence for that. Some patients who are sulfur allergic will tolerate the hcl version but not the sulfate version.. I think it is not a good deal. People can buy a pill and no impact on their blood sugar or drink that and get a sugar rush with resultant endocrine consequences (getting fat, cardiovascular disease, etc.). After the minerals and vit C, I find I only need to add glucosamine to the mix ~ 15% of the time. Think about those minerals : www.youngevity.com have a product for which they will provide an assay so you know that what they are claiming is in the bottle IS in the bottle.
