Guest guest
My daughter 21 was in a Oregon work related accident two years ago, where a 25lb container fell six feet off top shelf down onto the back of her head while she was kneeling down to put someone on bottom shelf. Motion fluoroscope motion X-rays were taking a year after the accident and much of the ligaments of the neck have been torn. I have her taking Prolotherapy, however Saif of course will hot recognize this and will not pay for it. I ended up taking her to an Orthopedist and Anesthesiologist in Daly City at the spinal institute where they did nerve blocks to locate where the pain is coming from. She has daily headaches of about a 5 on a 1-10 scale with migraines symptoms 3 times a week or more as a 10 on this scale. This has been going on for two years none stop. She also had pain in mid back to low back that gradually moved in over time. Nothing seems to relieve her pain. I hate to see her on medication going on now two years. The Daly City docs said it was 4 discs that were torn and did disc injections to all four disc of joint re builders. This is call experimental to Saif at $3,000 a pop and again they will not pay even though they did recognized one of the docs to be her treating doctor. She has had many doctors right from the beginning, when she went to Mercy Emergency room where they said she was fine and sent her back to work. She was forced to take flight up to Portland for an IME where they said it was all in her head and her symptoms were all from past family issues. They also pointed out, because I was a Chiropractor that my daughter was faking it for attention. Anything and everything to not pay and deny coverage. They fired every doc we have gone to by saying none of them comply with Oregon comp rules, including myself. They basically did not like the fact that I took her out of Oregon and had her see doctors out of state, so they would not get their IME docs hands on her. She was basically forced to see one of the Orthopedic doc in Reno on the list, which brings me to my question. He feels the motion x-rays, by a medical facility, read by a chiropractor that was trained in reading them was worthless and put that into his report. He does not believe anything about the ligaments have been damaged, even though this 25lb container fell six feet down onto the lower back of the head and neck. He also put into the report that because the MRI looks good that the Stanford docs don't know much about their finding by nerve blocks. He believes my daughter symptoms because of the palpation finding and severe lack of range of motion. However, because of the multiple issues of pain throughout the entire back he labeled his finding as "Central Pain Syndrome" and prescribed anti-convulsants, anti-depressants and anti-seizuree medication. He told her that she would have this all her life now and that she will need to find the right medication that will only help lower the symptoms. I have serious concerns, she is only 23 and looking for relief. We also did anti inflammatory injections with O3 throughout the Cervical and upper spine, under another docs recommendations. This helped on the first treatment for about three days, second treatment did nothing. I feel pretty helpless on this case and very tired having to continually fight Saif. Anyone have suggestions or information that could help? Wiese DC
