Me? I'm not commercial and I'm not Muslim.:-) Also, I read in the

other posts that tincturing with alcohol was fine. Are you saying

it's not? What else is available to tincture with?

Also, please understand that I'm fairly new to this so

please...please...please...take it easy with the labeling of my posts

as " dumb " . I'd really appreciate it.

Best regards,

Indigo

P.S. Do you still live in Switzerland?

Yes I'd also be very interested in the response to this. The best

solution my husband and I have been able to come up with during our

experiments is leaving the gloopy mass in almond oil for some weeks to

infuse then filtering through coffee filters.

Cheryl.

I disagree 100%. You don't need to use poisons to make perfumes.

" Phthalates are recognized as toxic substances under environmental

law, but companies are free to use unlimited amounts in cosmetics. "

http://www.ewg.org/reports/beautysecrets/chap2.html

" The new EU-prohibition for two of the phthalates in cosmetics is an

important step in the right direction. But we need to do more to

protect people and the environment from this unnecessary risk. All

phthalates in cosmetics and other products can add up to harm—a harm

we can avoid if we get all phthalates out of all products " says Per

nder, Project leader, Health Care Without Harm. "

http://www.nottoopretty.org/pr_eu_fertilitythreat.htm

We need to fight to get ALL phthalates out of ALL products.

I'll see your DEP nightcap and raise you one bowl of tomato soup

heated in a pot that got washed in a half-assed manner when I was

making soap, many moons ago. The scent was an 'oceanic' FO, and it

wasn't a half-bad seasoning. Boy did I feel stoopit after that

though. Blecch. Once I got over the fear that I was going to keel

over right then and there, I did some research online and found the

much-quoted info on endocrine disruptors and such (already noted in

the archives, I think).

DEP used to be used as a plasticizer in flexible PVC products, like

children's chewy toys and others; this went out of vogue a few years

ago because of the endocrine disruptor fears. It's used as a

plasticizer in some other plastics to keep them flexible, too.

PVC is a whole 'nother kettle of fish depending on your industry. We

hate it in recycling because it doesn't take much PVC

to 'contaminate' reclaimed PET during the reformulating process. You

get a polymer, sure, but it's a poor-performing one, which could be

likened to the glass you'd get if you threw some sheet glass windows

into a vat of coke bottles. It's glass, but it's brittle.

And on that tangent, I must be going ;)
