Dr. Medlin:

re: "Your

plan please"

My plan is to review the benefits available from the 43 currently

authorized Oregon insurance companies and pick one policy that most

closely meets my needs at a cost I can afford. Then buy it.

It's hard to estimate what additional variety of choices might be

available were out-of-state companies sanctioned to do business under

Oregon laws, now precluded by state and federal fiat. More competition

could hardly worsen my consumer plight, as that's what this country was

built upon. And since they all have to respond to both regulatory laws

and economic realities, I'd like to have more choices as likely there's

a better deal out there for MY needs.

re: " Your idea?"

My idea is to let you make your own choice.

Do you need help doing such?

There is a wide variety of options not required for the bulk of those

choosing to purchase insurance, yet again our law makers insist on

including such.

Pretending such coverage as transgender reassignment surgery is high on

the list of what policies should include, means those benefit costs are

indeed spread to those policy holders not seeking such coverage. Do

you really believe the taxpayers should be liable for such social

policy?

Mandating a wide variety of lesser utilized benefits upon the general

population and hiding those additional costs for all taxpayers under

the guise our society is on the verge of collapse because we don't have

such legislation, suggests a lack rational coherence by those who

continue to believe that a federal program designed to stop massive

cost overruns by another federal program designed to stop massive cost

overruns will do such, in the face of all evidence and historical

antecedent to the contrary. Do you have one example any such program

has every worked?

So now it your turn Dr. Medlin.

What's YOUR plan and what's YOUR idea?

Thank you.

I think it's very important to let people know where you are coming from. To sit here and discuss "reform" with folks who don't believe it is necessary is a waste of time. Luckily the demographic of the American people isn't expressed through this listserve.

The American people have spoken and wish for reform and universal coverage. The lies being expoused and the unsavory actions of a certain political party won't be enough in the end to to change that.

My idea Dr. Pederson has been consistant, ubiquitous and not something i've ever evaded or left out. The only way to truly revamp and reform our health care system is to offer a single payer system for universal coverage. Competition has done nothing but make all of the ins. companies more money, give us less options and raised premiums to rediculous amounts. IT has proven not to work in this situation despite what our country was "founded on". What is the saying?: doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result..........

Last time reform was shut down the insurers became more powerful and the birth of HMO's arose. Are you ready to accept what happens if it fails this time?

Examples where it has worked? Well, let me put it to you this way: Is there an uproar about any other system in the world as there is today with ours? The people are ready for REAL CHANGE.

Oh, and yes I do believe that our taxes should help pay for it.

You highlighted the paragraph this way.

And despite his

efforts — in speeches, news conferences, town-hall-style meetings and

other forums — to address public misgivings, 69 percent of

respondents in the poll said they were concerned that the quality of

their own care would decline if the government created a program that

covers everyone. The poll found 66 percent of respondents were

concerned that they might eventually lose their insurance if the

government did not create a new health care

system, and 80 percent said they were concerned that the percentage of

Americans without health care would continue to rise if Congress did

not act.

I might highlight it this way.

I guess we all have our way of seeing this issue. And we all "weed up".And even as I think that Obama may not be doing a stellar job of "fixing" health care, I am thankful for every day that it is he who is there and not someone else. The pole I would like to see is how many Canadians and British would gladly trade their Health system for ours? I think that we would learn that despite mismanagement and underfunded agencies, they would not trade their system for our fragmented system.Best,Jay Lindekugel, DCConcordia Chiropractic Center5425 NE 33rd Ave.Portland Or. 97211503-287-2273

Well, dang it. You’re right:

In Poll, Wide Support for Government-Run Health

By KEVIN SACK and MARJORIE CONNELLY

“Americans overwhelmingly support substantial changes to the health care system and are strongly behind one of the most contentious proposals Congress is considering, a government-run insurance plan to compete with private insurers, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.â€

But wait! That was Published: June 20, 2009

Time marches on and the people who have spoken are also reading and listening.

By July 29, 2009

By ADAM NAGOURNEY and MEGAN THEE-BRENAN

President Obama’s ability to shape the debate on health care appears to be eroding as opponents aggressively portray his overhaul plan as a government takeover that could limit Americans’ ability to choose their doctors and course of treatment, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll. Americans are concerned that revamping the health care system would reduce the quality of their care, increase their out-of-pocket health costs and tax bills, and limit their options in choosing doctors, treatments and tests, the poll found. The percentage who describe health care costs as a serious threat to the American economy — a central argument made by Mr. Obama — has dropped over the past month.

And despite his efforts — in speeches, news conferences, town-hall-style meetings and other forums — to address public misgivings, 69 percent of respondents in the poll said they were concerned that the quality of their own care would decline if the government created a program that covers everyone. The poll found 66 percent of respondents were concerned that they might eventually lose their insurance if the government did not create a new health care system, and 80 percent said they were concerned that the percentage of Americans without health care would continue to rise if Congress did not act.

Polls Show It's Time to Drop Healthcare Reform

By Roff, Jefferson Street blog

The latest ABC News-Washington Post poll of 1,001 U.S. adults found that 50 percent of the country now disapproves of the job President Obama is doing on healthcare, up 6 points from 44 percent who felt that way in July. And a minority, 49 percent, think he will be able to "make significant improvements" in the U.S. healthcare system.

Dang voters and the dang internet seem to have given people the ability to actually read the dang bill and they are danged what’s the phrase (?) wee weed up!
