Guest guest
(((((Ling))))) You poor thing. What a rotten birthday. You get to have a makeup one later, when you feel better. Just exactly what was he trying to do with these drugs? Can you explain it to us? Did it stop your headaches? Hope you're feeling better now. Warm wet cloths applied to the IV sites will help. I think a big cheesecake would too. The only internet access was through my mobile phone, but that was really inconvenient... Fortunately that did not go that bad after all, my friends and family actually brought a small slice of cake to the ward to have a mini-celebration ("preview") first before I got home yesterday and have the belated birthday celebration. My update..... last Thu my pain doc called my in the late afternoon to ask me to see a neurologist on Fri. THis neuro apparently had just returned from US from a subspecialty training in headaches. So I saw this new doc and he wanted me admitted me on Monday, 31st May. Then he started a series of iv drips (series of 4 meds - methyprednisolone, stemetil, phenogram, magnesium sulphate, etc.) He also started me on Topiramate. The drips really made my arms ache, ache, and The iv plugs had to be changed daily. In the end my arms are inflammed and they had to be bandaged and I have to take antibiotics. In addition to this the drip really caused severe body ache, I could not sleep at all -the moment I lie down to sleep, the body ache comes and I have to sit upright or stand upright.... that was terrible... I kept asking the nurse to stop the drip till the doc comes but she is not symphathic. But glad this is over now! Sorry for the vent, boy, I'm glad to be back! Guest guest
Hi and All, Sorry for the slow reply. The neuro believes that I am in a kind of "vicious pain cycle" for the pain since I am in pain for so long, so he hopes to break this cycle by putting me on this cocktail of drugs. Once the cycle is broken he can then start me on some meds again, which might not have worked well if the cycle is not broken first. Well, the joke is that this cocktail did not work for me... the pain did not get much better. I am still on the Topiramate, but the pain is still there and seems to be flaring up again. I don't think can last too long again.... will probably have to start that morphine which I was previously on again and see the neuro again soon. Guest guest
Hi Helen, Don't think the meds helped much, the pain seems to be slowly creeping up again, groan, but still hanging on. Will probably be going back to the previous prescription (morphine) if the pain continues to go on again... Hope you are doing better! Ling Re: I'm back!- Thanks for BD greeting and my update...
