A portion is usually said to be like your palm size or a deck of

cards, and or a fist size - beyond that you can use cups

measurements for your foods if you understand how much you should be

eating. Altho BFL is not about calories its good to know that one

cup of broccoli is not equal to one cup of brown rice. Stick as

closely as you can to the original plan in the BFL book for the

first twelve weeks is your best bet.

Supplements are not necessary and totally optional. Get the foods

and exercise down pat first before even thinking of adding anything

to your program. Some are useful from a nutrition point like protein

powders (to add more protein into your daily total), EFAs (essential

fatty acids) which are dietary oils which are good to include when

you eat lowfat you need dietary fats to replace them so your body

will release stored bodyfats, and lastly convenience like MRPs (meal

replacement powders) or nutrition bars to keep you on track when

your'e in a rush or cant plan whole foods.

Again an optional personal choice - caution and beware of

ingredients. Some people (like me)like thermogenics for their energy

factor - of course nothing in a bottle pill form will 'melt fat' or

any other such nonsense. The way I look at it, you didnt take a pill

to make you fat so why take something to try to make you 'unfat'? ;-

) Hard work, eating right, and staying on a healthy path will get

you the physique you want over anything else.

You may find that your goals change over time - while I can see the

20lbs,(even in twelve weeks) you may find a 15% bodyfat reduction a

bit much - but then again this is a year we are talking about so

time is on yuor side ;-)
