Hi all,

On a whim I purchased a bottle of cocoa extract from one of my favorite eo

suppliers. It

was extracted with alcohol from cocoa beans. Would anyone know what I could

blend this

with?

Thanks,

Indigo

Hi Indigo, and others!

I recently was invited to join this list and have been reading with interest.

You are certainly a knowledgable group, aren't you! I am kept pretty busy with

all the stuff I do, but I will be keeping up with the posts. Hi.

Anyhow, I have a question about the cocoa oil. What does it smell like? I

have been trying to locate a supplier for it because I think it might be exactly

what I have been looking for to match a smell. I don't want to use anything

unless it is 100% natural though. Are you able to pass on details about

where/how to get some?

Another question re: patchouli oil. I have some that is definiteluy pure, but

it has a chemically scent as well, probably due to the solvent left behind. Is

there a way to purify it? Are there different methods for extracting patchouli

essential oil? I would like to find one that is as close to natural as I can

get.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi

Glad to have you hear. Don't forget to search the archives for past

messages, there is a wealth of information there.

We try to avoid making supplier recommendations on this group, to avoid

possible conflicts. I am going to email you privately with a supplier who

has some great cocoa absolute from Egypt. This is a repeat buy for me from

this supplier. The price is reasonable, and the scent is beautiful. It

smells like a wonderful milk chocolate, very rich and deep. Someone sent me

a sample of a Costa Rican chocolate absolute a few months ago, and it

smells like chocolate fudge, or a brownie. No source for that one, sorry.

Patchouli has been discussed at length in this group, so you can search the

archives on that, just by going to the homepage, clicking on " messages " ,

then at the message page, type patchouli in the search box. Just

keepclicking " next " if none show up, going back through the archives

chronologically.

The short answer I can give you here is, yes, there are different methods

for extracting patchoili EO. It varies by country and container (so distill

in iron pots, some in stainless steel). There is also patchouli absolute,

which may be what you have, if there is a solvent scent, since there is no

solvent in an EO. My advice is to purchase as many samples of patchouli

from as many suppliers, and focus on the one you like. Some suppliers carry

various patchoulis. You can check our Links section for suppliers, since

all are allowed to post their website in there, but we try to avoid

discussion of any particular one here. HTH!
