Guest guest
Sunny et al: The A-P pelvis x-ray the patient brought in only showed up through the lower half of L3 and he had no lateral, except to say that he had a " spondy. " Therefore, I decided to get A-P and lateral films to more fully assess his condition. Since medicare won't pay for x-rays by a D.C., he requested that I send him to Diagnostic Imaging here in Salem. Well, he presented there today for standing A-P and lateral lumbar films, and shortly thereafter the radiologist called me VERY concerned about the guy's right hip. She said she hadn't seen anything quite like that before and recommended MRI of the hip ASAP. She also added that his plan to have hip replacement surgery will undoubtedly be delayed until whatever condition he has is accurately diagnosed and attended to. She, as do I, feel that there isn't enough density in the ilium to anchor a prosthesis due to the honeycomb effect around the (former) acetabulum. I'll keep ya'll posted on this one.
