This is so last month,but I was watching the Food Network and they

had a shop, I think it was an ice cream shop, that sold a chocolate

perfume. I don't remember the name of the show,it was a regular

show. But I think they were using real stuff,they showed bottles of

cocoa ablsolute and orange oil. They talked to the guy who developed

it and they showed him measuring the scent,drop by drop. The name

of the shop and perfume was Serendipity,I believe. I just thought I

would pass that along.

I also found an article on the web,initially about the aroma

chemical Calone,that talked about the tastes in scent and how the

social " buzz " of the times is reflected in what scents are popular.

The whole thing is is that now scents like chocolate,vanilla,and

caramel are huge,due to 9/11,while in the 90's it was the

fresh,cool,clean,marine Calone based scents that were popular,as a

reaction to the heavy " power " scents of the 80's,the era of AIDS.

The author also took visits to perfumeries in Grasse,France and

talked to a couple of " noses " from a couple of houses,informing

readers the ins and outs of the scent business. It was quite a

facsinating article. If any of you are interested in reading its at

Since I heard that the scent " Angel " has chocolate and caramel in

it I decided to go check it out at Marshall Fields. I didn't like

it. At all. I was suprised. Then,go figure, a customer came into

work and as I was making his sandwich I noticed that he had

something on that smelled really good. I asked him what it was and

guess what he told me? Angel. Funny, huh.

And while were at it, I was also going to write in response to

that article, and say that scents like chocolate,vanilla,etc might

be interesting in blends that I for one would not like to smell like

a chocolate bar, an Nilla wafer, or a cup of coffee. What do I do,go

and buy a 100% cocoa butter moisturizer that smells so chocolaty

that you want to eat it! Its so yummy. But its not creamy, it's like

trying to rub a candle. Does anyone have advice on how to use this

stuff? I can get a little to smear on my hands,but I cant imagine

getting it on the rest of me!
