Hi to all,

Yes, Lee Ann, I suddenly developed a great sensitivity to cold and I do

mean suddenly! I was drinking a cold, canned soda. After a few sips, the

next time I picked the can up my hands became red, painful, and developed

severe hives. It's been that way ever since! If anytning is too cold I

react the same way.

And I, too, am over weight.

Hi Jim!

My brother lived in Tampa area, actually Largo, about 2 miles from Indian

Rock's beach and worked for E systems. Where you in any support group there?

Not sure if Ron was, but he might have been! He used to take us down to

Crabby Bill's-----only place I ever had alligator on a stick.... Martha

Hi Martha,

Yeah, been to Crabby Bill's down there. Tampa has many, many good seafood

places. Anyway, no, there wasn't any support groups down there in Tampa.

There was a good orthopedic surgeon down there who was very aware of CMT.

In fact, he was the one that suspected I had it and sent me to the MDA for

further tests. I never did go through with the operations, (Cold feet, I

guess. No pun intended) though he felt it would have helped tremendously.

May have it done in the near future. I don't know of your brother's

situation, but if he is contemplating surgery, he may want to contact him.

His name was Dr. Epstein in Palm Harbor, Fl. Don't know if he is still

in the same location, though. It's been a while.

Jerry you may want to go to dr. hilda clarks page (sorry I don't have the

address). SHe covers everything there. And I imagine it is similiar to

ADD-ADHD where nuerons just aren't connecting correctly and you need

something to make the paths connect. She should be able to help you. Maybe

someone else has her address.

Hope you find it

Dear Darlene:

Please try to digest all of this, so you have a good understanding

of the medical definitions of what is a " cure " , " remission " , etc. It is

very important that you understand these concepts, and the small

differences between them.

A virus, by today's standards can not be " cured " , and the best you

can get is rendering the virus in a state of " remission " /useless. For

example, Chicken Pox, or HIV IV, when you are exposed, will always be in

your system. You may not have any further symptoms, or problems, but the

virus is there. Usually, your body builds enough antibodies so that you

do not get the symptoms again, but it is possible. For example, in the

case of chicken pox, it can surface anytime, but usually comes out as

" shingles " , which is caused by the same virus.

I am not sure whether your provider misspoke, you misunderstood, or

what. But, you must understand that the HCV is a virus, and therefore

can not be " cured " at this time. The best you can hope for is a

" permanent " remission. You can have an undetectable viral load/count,

but, you will, with today's technology, always be positive for the

virus.

I know this is just a twist on words, but, you need to understand

what is what and if your provider said you are " negative " , he/she, is

wrong. Hopefully, what was meant was that your viral loads were

undetectable, which is the best to hope for. I hope this provides a

better understanding so you do not have expectations that can not exist

with today's knowledge.

But, who cares if you are " cured " or in a state of permanent

remission. It will all translate into the same positive thing, and that

is your body is keeping the virus from doing any damage. Marty

yaaawwwwnnn! I am so tired. It is really damp here today (rain this am). I am always cold. My neighbors tease me that I hibernate all winter long cause they hardly ever see me. My daughter wants to get me a remote car starter this year cause I'm always complaining bout having to get into a cold car. Good Morining to Jan!

Winter is starting to set in here, too. We have been

unseasonably warm so far this year. No snow yet to

speak of. I have been hibernated all year. I didn't

even take care of my garden this year. If I wasn't at

work or driving there or back, I was firmly planted in

my chair or in bed. Now I've got to try to snap out of

this inaction. A body at rest tends to stay at rest.

In my case a body in motion tends try to rest. Actually I do well in the

morning. But by this time of the day (8 PM) it's hard to keep going. I did

some Christmas shopping after work and now I'm headed for bed with my book.

Good night everyone.

I guess I have been somewhat the same. If I wanted to

get anything done it had to be early in the day. I

have found that I am getting more accomplished at work

since I have been off the meds. The brain fog is

lifting. My energy still runs out towards the end of

the day and I am still feeling a little sick, but am

seeing improvement. I have been off the meds for a

week. I have some Christmas shopping to do this

weekend as well. Have a good day, everyone... HO HO

Will do, Jan. (Don't call her Janet, I got hollered at

:) Seriously, I hope you can smooth out your family

problems. I know this has been a tough couple of

months with all the upheaval going on between your

husband and kids. Hang in there. -dz-

If you've done all you can, try not to worry about the

rest. Easier said than done, but all the worrying in

the world isn't going to change things. As a

recovering addict I can relate. Yes, I WANT PATIENCE,

BUT I WANT IT RIGHT NOW!! This is a good time for the

serenity prayer. If you're like me, I am better at

having the courage to change the things I can, then

having the patience to accept the things I cannot.

But, I'll pray for a little peace of mind on your end,

and cool heads all around. -dz-
