Most will agree that is the case; the next question is "what can you tell us about the cost of government?" And please clarify your earlier concept that "free or cheap" is what we can expect in health insurance. Can you give an example? What has happened to the Old Plan, where ONE worker could support self and spouse and 2.5 kids, buy a house, a car AND a chicken in the pot? J. Guest guest
Jack,What has happened is free market economy gone amok into consumerism so that the two income family is the norm in order to pay for all the advertised goods and sometimes services people yearn for. It's consumerism without what? education? conciousness about the bigger picture? buying stuff and style without awareness of the impact on the environment, the economy and your own personal budget, let alone your health .It's a phenomenally bloated sense of entitlement and a practically non-existent sense of responsibility.AnnetteOn Jun 25, 2009, at 9:18 AM, cosmo wrote:Dr. Medlin:re: "Health Insurance. Guest guest
Annette, That’s it! I’m throwing away my iPod, cell phone, mountain bike, expensive athletic shoes, cable, stylish clothes (a small item), and all that other fancy shmancy stuff made by eeeevil corporations with nothing more in mind than a profit motive. Kick out Nike, bite Apple’s butt, pour out Starbuck’s! We didn’t need color TV’s, picture phones, superfast personal computers. We wanted them. And the free market gone amok, keeps producing more and better stuff for us to consume. Shame on us. It stops now. You first. Just kidding around. E. Abrahamson, D.C. Guest guest
Hey ,No, you first. I deserve this stuff and you are just greedy. My point isn't we should not get stuff, but getting stuff without awareness of the full cost is part of how we are in the place where it takes two incomes to support a family.Thoughtfulness about what you buy, rather than buying it just because it is the current thing is also my point. Doesn't a good part of your practice and healing philosophy hinge on thoughtful decisions regarding what your patient's consume for their food, and health care needs? Holism isn't just cool for the health care part of your life, it is a useful philosophy for every aspect. I guess I just bought into that green environmental movement those darn hippies were espousing lo those many years ago. I wonder what their budget was for getting out the word?I'm also not opposed to free enterprise and capitalism. Nor do I support endless laws and regulations regarding personal choices. etc, etc.....I can't help notice that the wonderfully entertaining advertising industry and many of the corporations sell stuff that is just not more than passingly useful, if at all. And you just gotta get rid of all that stuff you been buying. I need mine.Annette On Jun 25, 2009, at 10:09 AM, Abrahamson wrote: Annette, That’s it!
