It is not easy, you just have to want it bad enough. Set shorter goals for yourself, such as 8 pounds by next month or 1.5 lbs to 2 lbs by next week. It won't seem so overwhelming and these goals will help you reach your long-term goal of 100 lbs by next year. It is attainable, you just have to realize and visualize it. if you fall off the wagon, dust yourself off and get right back on. This is worth it and attainable. Good luck! Guest guest Posted January 12, 2004 Report Share Posted January 12, 2004 Gypsi, Some of the things that help me in those moments are to have a mental talk with myself. Sometimes it works, and to be honest sometimes it doesn't. Nope, I'm no perfect either But I'll ask myself, " Is this cookie/meal/whatever going to get me any closer to my goal if I eat it? Will I be any closer to my goal if I skip my workout? " Sometimes I make " deals " , I'll do cardio for 10 minutes only and usually once I get going I end up doing the whole 20 minutes. It's the getting going that is the hardest. I also ask myself how will I feel after I eat " x " or don't workout? I feel horrible, guilty, " fatter " , undisciplined and the 'cheat' isn't worth all that guilt in the long run. As far as meals, it does take awhile to get used to planning. But believe me, planning is the key.
