Just rinse and drain, rinse and drain. Drain being the most important.

2x a day is great, 3x a luxury. Once they are soaked, just rinse and

drain. There should not be any water in the outer chamber after you have

finished with the soaking stage. Oh, what kind of seeds are you

sprouting? Diane

Hi, I'm new at this myself. What is 'easy sprout'? Where do you get it?

I am growing alalpha not sure of the spelling. They

have sprouted but there are unsprouted seeds at the

bottom and sprouted seeds on top. Its day 3.

There will always be a percentage that will not sprout. The older the

seeds get, the larger the percentage. I have alfalfa seeds from 1999 ( I

bought to many) half of which are still germinating.ew

Hi Ernest:

Nice to hear from you.

I found Easy sprout on the website.

It is like a big plastic Cup with a vented dome. It

has another big plastic Cup inside that you put the

seeds in. It allows are flow around the growing

sprouts so they don't drown. I am on Day 3 and I have

sprouts forming the volume in the container has nearly

doubled in size.

Why are you sprouting?

I had my first taste of alalpha sprouts on my salad

loved the taste and the texture. I have heard they are

very good for you too.

From you e-mail address it sounds like you have some

expertise in raising tomatoes? I have been trying to

raise tomotoes in Wine Kegs with holes drilled in them

for drainage with limited success. Do you have any

techniques that worked for you?

Hi, Jeff, I am sprouting alfalfa, red clover, pea sprouts, mug beans,

onions, cress, soy beans and sunflower at this time but will be doing

other sprouts in the future. I sprout because I am an organic gardener

and a raise as much of my own produce as possible. The taste is better if

you do it yourself and I know no chemicals are on my food. About your

tomatoes. There is no reason why you cannot grow them in the barrels.

Tell me some things: what kind of soil are you using? How much sun do

they get? Do you tend to over or under water? What do you feed them?

Tomatoes need to be kept evenly moist, but not wet. Tomatoes have

voracious appitites and need to be fed once a month, especially in

containers where the roots cannot reach out in the soil. Check your local

garden or farm supply for a good organic tomato food and follow the

instructions. By the way, I am also a Los Angeles County Certified Master

Gardener.

Hi Jeff, you will notice there are ridges on the inside of the larger

cup, near the top. This is for positioning the inside cup so that the

bottom of the inside cup does not rest on the bottom of the outside cup.

This makes sure the little sprouts at the bottom do not sit in any

water that was late in draining down to the bottom.

I think you are doing everything right, just be patient and rinse and

drain rinse and drain.

Only takes a couple of days for the lentils. Like Ernest said, there

will be some unsprouted seeds at the bottom, along with the hulls that

drain down. They will all come off in the final wash, so no worries.

Just as a side note, I also use that sprouter to sprout lentils from

Sproutpeople.com and they are outstanding.

Hi Diane:

Its Amaizing the volume of the Sprouts have nearly

tripled. Day 4 the dome now is seated in the groove.

I will have to try to sprout some lentils. ( a couple

of days wow ! Awsome little sprouts. Do you pre soak

the lentils?

Yes, I soak the lentils, either overnight or during the day. And here is

the great news. Once the lentils are soaked, they are ready to eat! Yes,

you don't even have to grow a little lentil tail (1/4 inch only), you

can eat them right then! I learned this on the Sproutpeople.com website.

Tons of info there, just tons. Gil has done a great job! I have a

tendency to make things more complicated then they need to be, so the

website helps alot.

I Think you pointed out a few of my errors in poor tomato production,

Havn't fed them anything assuming everything I needed was in the

soil. I live in the San Francisco area so sometimes it is overcast

til 10:00 Am or so then the sun comes out full sun most days. I want

to grow the produce because it often tastes a lot better. Some of

those Roma Tomatos don't even smell like a tomatos and they are so

firm they could be mistaken for a grenade blindfolded. heehe

My sprouts now have nearly trippled in size alalpha. I am going to

try to sprout some lentils ( takes only a couple days ) see if they

taste good. I love the texture and simple sweetness of the alalpha

sprouts.

Before I moved to the city I had orchards of English Walnuts in Yuba

City. I grew them commerically for 15 years. Today I miss the flavor

of a un processed, un dried English Walnut. The poor English Walnut

unfortunately becomes moldy qwick when it isn't dred and processed

what a shame.

For a treat, you might try soaking your walnuts and almonds and peanuts

too. Just soak for about 4-6 hours or even overnight if that is more

convenient. They taste totally different and change from being mostly

fat to mostly protein. I get the nuts from SP of course. I eat them the

day I soak them or a day later at the latest as they taste better. These

are not sprouted, just soaked.

according to the book " Sprouts the Miracle Food " its Arabic and means

father of all foods.

You might also like to know that alfalfa is the most grown food plant in

the world. Why? Animal food. So if its good for them, its great for us. I

use alfalfa in many ways. Last night I made tacos and used sprout instead

of lettuce.
